  1. Wow, in a recent video Shogun said he was training fairly lightly, but did comment a lot on the UFC and expressed that he wants to fight there. But not so soon! Otherwise, Dana White keeps talking about a matchup between Chuck and Wand, but you know how those guys are about each other. I also forgot BJ dropped to 155 to fight Jens, that's a decent threat...but more than half the great lightweights in the world are fighting in Japan. Gomi is a knockout artist, kindof like Tyson and Rampage. You make them gas, they usually lose...but he's still a freak of nature.
  2. Anthony Johnson will have a mean reach advantage over most any welterweight. He hit that guy with one left that made the guy fall asleep for a second, dude woke up while he was still standing up. Then another left made him go byebye. Gosh, the commercials are lasting 4x more than the fights.
  3. Gosh Dang, that Hungarian wrestler got freaking buried. Good night!
  4. They could introduce Fedor... :fingersx: They have a way of introducing fighters at events, albeit larger events. Nog and Henderson recently. Silva, Shogun, Fedor, I'd be excited if any top-tier fighter came to the UFC. They especially need to recruit some of the talent from Japan in to the LW division. I think Gomi would walk all over the LW division. Sherk is being tested soon but if he wins that handely then who else is there?
  5. Always cool to see a UFC event, I'll be tuning in!
  6. Sorry mixed that up, fixed it to Arlovski should fight Nogueira. But if Arlovski somehow beats Minotauro then yeah, there ain't much of a choice. Ladder system is ladder system. I just hope Fedor comes in and buries all these cats.
  7. I think Sylvia has to be in the mix there, same with Nogueira. I think that matchup has retirement written all over it for Cro Cop. He looked and faught tentatively, and doesn't seem comfortable in the octagon. And while Arlovski doesn't have the explosiveness Gonzaga does, he will do anything not to lose. I see takedowns and submission attempts all fight long. Thing with Cro Cop, the man doesn't have much defense, and his ground game would be awful if it wasn't for his knack for pulling a submission every so often. It's hard to tell when or if CC's prime has passed him by. Switching to UFC, losing so convincingly to Gonzaga, on top of the severe injury he probably sustained...one more loss and he might just say **** it. Otherwise, Arlovski should fight Nogueira . Then the winner can fight Sylvia to see who fights the winner of Couture vs. Gonzaga.
  8. This thread is truely the greatest in Extremeskins history.
  9. Right. I'm lucky. I'm not saying Rickson didn't have talent...but he's kind of a fokelore figure because of his record. And it wasn't even against good fighters. The Japanese version of the Liddell/Rampage fight is on Limewire. The audio around the ring is better and you can actually hear the connections on Liddell's face and midsection very clearly. Sad to watch for a fan like myself, but at least it was to Rampage, who I like also. As far as that fight, it may have had a few factors that greatly benefitted Rampage. 1) Liddell in a boxing ring is much less effective than Liddell in a larger octagon. 2) Liddell was half the fighter he is now. After he lost to Couture, he became determined to be unstoppable. He's hasn't been taking **** at all. 3) Liddell's confidence in his game enables him to throw with extreme violence and precision. Look at his face in the beginning of that fight, he looks very unsure of himself. He is simply a different fighter. As far as Rampage, this will be Liddell's toughest avenging of a loss. Randy was older, and Liddell surpassed his striking ability. He also has developed his sprawl in to one of the best of all time. Rampage is a wrestler, but I think it's not a good idea to take Chuck down. When he sprawls he hits you with about 3 or 4 punches that are incredibly effective. Rampage also has a great boxing technique, and Chuck tried boxing him last fight. Not a good idea, as stated in the Ali thread. Rampage also gasses easily. He wastes energy trying to go for violent attacks and slams and it always has hurt him for fights to go in to later rounds. I see him gassing against Chuck, trying to teach him a lesson that Chuck can't beat him. But after seeing what happened to Cro Cop, along with St. Pierre, there's no freaking telling anymore.
  10. It looked like Gonzaga dislocated Cro Cop's neck. That was the craziest kick I've ever seen. He fell asleep instantly. And Gonzaga dominated him on the ground. He must have landed 20 elbows to his dome. Cro Cop got Cro Dropped.
  11. That's right and it's cuz he was too hesitant to get his record ruined in Pride. It just never happened my butt. Rickson boosted his record against people with half the talent as the elite fighters in Pride and UFC. That's pretty weird. His 13 MMA wins come against fighters that weren't really good at all. If he was so good, why not become champ? Guess numbers are more important than championships. I wouldn't hesitate to pay $40 to see him challenge Anderson Silva.
  12. Rickson? That guy is the biggest fraud ever. Who has he faught? Kazushi "The Gracie Hunter" Sakuraba's anti-jui jitsu style scared him off. Sakuraba got out of that crap like Chuck gets out of Tito's takedowns. Various organizations affiliated with Rickson came out claiming his record was around 400-0 counting all the fights that were never televised. Well, why does he shy away from anything that isn't Jui Jitsu. I'll tell you why, cuz he's addicted to it too much to stand in the ring with someone with heavy hands and knees. Numbers don't impress me, I respect Randy "15-8" Couture way more than I can respect Rickson. Gracie Shmacie.
  13. Wow thank God you mentioned that. I would have most definitely ran in to the decision of that. No TV or radio for me Saturday. Not even gonna talk to friends. Gonna block some of thier butts on AIM!
  14. UFC: 70 is FREE of charge. Finally. A fighting event that is going to be treated like a regular sporting event. This is awesome. It's on SATURDAY at 9 PM. Ratings will be key here guys. The country needs to show enough interest for UFC to rack in the same $$$ as their pay-per-view events. Cro Cop is fighting a pretty hefty dude. But I still have Cro Cop winning late in the 1st round. I don't blame them for making UFC: 71 pay-per-view. Everyone will want to see Liddell fight Rampage. They will profit off of that. But as far as making UFC different than any other fighting sport will be putting it in the mainstream. Hopefully, soon, UFC will end up on a main network like the other big 3 sports. Tune in and watch arguably the best stand up striker in the MMA world, Mirko Cro Cop Filipovic. Saturday night at 9 on Spike TV.
  15. Thing about Serra is he can beat anyone and lose to anyone at about the same odds. He's got super heavy hands and can plunk somebody wherever he is. He deserves to be a champion, I've always believed the guy is an outstanding fighter. I think he has a chance to take out Hughes also. Hughes has lost that overwhelming brute strength that enabled him to toss cats around the ring. He needs to work on the technical side like never before, and his standup DEFINITLY needs help against someone like Serra. Hughes may have been elated to see GSP lose, but he should count his blessings before he gets in to the ring with Serra...because Serra is hitting his peak. As far as Forrest, what is there not to like about the guy? I mean yes, he choked against Jardine...but everyone has those days. He probably thought it'd be just as much of a walkthrough as the rest of us. Don't count him out just yet. He has a cast iron jaw, he just needs a more effective offense. Give him a couple years...he might do something special one day. Diego looked like he almost threw the fight on purpose. Like he WANTED that loss. He threw maybe 1 or 2 effective strikes and they missed by 3 feet. He made Koscheck's lead hand look like a 4x5 war shield. He had Kos's back at the end of the 1st round pretty well. He was obviously intimidated by Kos's wrestling background to not go for that again, and he also made Kos's ****ed right hand look like a german shepard ready to bite him on the face. A total intimidation by Koscheck. Diego owes me 20 dollars.
  16. Matt Serra is the new Welterweight Champ! TKO'd the F out of St. Pierre in the middle of the first. A few big lefts did the job. What a freaking tank! Got on top of him and landed about 8 or 9 thick blasts to his dome. Serra basically dominated the fight. Diego looked horrible today. He lost in a decision. Koscheck played him like a piano. Most boring fight I've ever seen. Guess it wasn't out of the question for an upset!! We had two of them! Wow, is all I have to say.
  17. Well I ordered it. Should be a fun night. I think everybody is way high on GSP, which he has earned...but Serra is a little bulldog. I think he'll be game for this match. Still got St. Pierre in this one...so maintain your boner. I think Koschek is more of an underdog than Serra. Diego is a madman. But anything can happen in MMA. Don't be suprised if there is an upset tonight. I have St. Pierre early in the 3rd and Diego early in the 2nd.
  18. I'd love to see St. Pierre and Serra. I'd bet Diego beats Koschek but it'd be nice to see. Diego is on a long mission. He's the best fighter to come straight from Ultimate Fighter. I don't see him getting stopped until he has the belt. As far as Serra...dude has got game, maybe St. Pierre will kick him in the balls a few times. I really like St. Pierre, I hope he wins so he can defend his title against Hughes again. Should be a good night. Update us guys!
  19. Here's an interview with Chuck Liddell. He's disoriented to the point of almost passing out in the middle of the interview. Tired, or punch drunk? http://www.collegehumor.com/video:1750349
  20. Pride and UFC let you knee your opponent. Do you mean knees on the ground? Kneeing on the ground can be brutal, but I hope UFC doesn't start softening up the brutality 10-fold.
  21. I agree it will be a fast fight, but it's because Rampage loses all his fights due to his mid-2nd round nap time. Even when he parries shots he throws those fists around like he's Roy Jones Jr. or something. This "blowout" everybody uses to describe his fight with Silva is a simple product of Rampage wanting to take a nap in the middle of the fight. He just decided to take it on the knees of Wanderlei. It was quite hilarious, actually. Rampage basically gave up. You bring up a great point about Rampage and studying opponents. It's like his gameplan is to "go in there and BE RAMPAGE". Well, it's too late to figure out that it doesn't work when you're breathin from throwin missed bombs and getting kneed in the gut. It's really like he just gives up after his basic plan has been neutralized. As far as Shogun, he is a very technically sound fighter. But I have yet to see him get his dome blasted around. Not sure of his record, but all I've ever seen from him is him coming out of the gate throwing a plethora of different strikes and takedowns. I'd like to see him walk to the other side of the ring one day like he owns it and get popped like Sylvia did against Couture. Shogun to me, is a quietly arrogant fighter. He knows he's talented and that only comes back to hurt you. One of those Karate Kid switch kicks are gonna get caught one day and he's gonna get punched. I'd like to see how he responds. He may be a true champion, or just hasn't been figured out yet. As for Chuck, I'd hate to see him move up to heavyweight. The toll that would take on the longevity of his career would be large. It's hard on the body to move up in weight class, and it becomes a different game. I'd like to see him fight Silva and Shogun then have Rampage 3 as his swan song. That may just be me dreaming but hey, talk about a storybook ending...providing Chuck could win them all.
  22. I think Forrest will become a really good fighter. He almost hilariously accepts the fact that every fight he's in blood is going to be flying everywhere. You can see it in his face and eyes. He loves to entertain, and one day that spark will burst in him when he wants to make a run. If he wants to become a consistant fighter, he's going to need to become way sharper and dynamic with his defense, jui jitsu, among other things.
  23. Very good questions in that interview!!! Thanks Sebowski.
  24. You can find the Couture/Sylvia fight on Limewire...dunno about the others.
