No way does this look or feel like a "win now" mentality by this staff.
This is what it looks like when ownership, front office, and coaching are in lock step harmony on building something meaningful for more than one season.
I expect no different when it comes to this years draft, QB, etc.

His career wouldn't be over, and to be fair, if I were an owner, I'm not blaming a GM for trusting his process when it appears sound and missing, that is the way of QB's in this league, what I would blame him for, or her for, would be ignoring a ---- ton of warning signs, going against the grain, and being wrong, that can and should get guys canned. Whether its trading down for a JJ or Penix, or in this case, for me, taking Daniels. Or say the Bears taking Daniels or Maye over Williams etc.
I hope this is how Harris is approaching it.
I want to see Peters get multiple bites at the QB apple. Hopefully he nails this first one, but I wouldn’t fire him if he doesn’t.
also, not sure if you caught it, but Mayock was on a podcast with Middlekauf recently that was worth watching... Lmk if you’re interested and I’ll link it over.

Had posts about how Keim is off with his first round projections in response to my post on this another about how naive Keim is and is being played and doesn't know it, another that he's a tool. I guess to me it feels like giving him a hard time. But that's subjective on my end as for it feeling like they are giving him a hard time, so if it doesn't feel that way to you, its OK of course.
I missed those posts 😂
Anyone that thinks Keim is a tool is not paying attention.

Some here have given a hard time to Keim for guessing if he had to guess it will be Daniels. But that's all he was doing and he explained his rationale. He also said he doesn't know what they are going to do. The only point Keim has made that's strong is he doesn't think it will be McCarthy.
Long story short, I think Maye still has a good shot at this it just doesn't feel slam dunk as some here feel it should be
I dont think anyone is giving JK a hard time. Keim is playing it the right way as he is not in the prediction business, that guy is a journalist. His job is to report the news, not BE part of the news. I respect his old school mentality because most "journalism" today is very different than when he started out years ago before the internet. Everything now is a race for clicks and Keim doesnt seem like the type of guy that would risk his reputation on that.
Even his pod feels like it fell out of the 80's.
Guys like Shefter, Orlovsky, etc CAN and WILL do that because they are playing a much different game. I suspect if Keim was approached with Agent Kickbacks he would say no.
Short story long, none of this is a slam dunk. None of these prospects is a "slam dunk" pick because the real work starts AFTER the pick is made, not before. The amount of time and effort that will be put into the player far exceeds what was invested to get to this point.

Would rather just do that and trade back up for mccarthy at this point instead of suffering through this incessant maye vs. daniels war any longer
It would save the fan base from themselves.

If we could find a way to land JJ and pick up more draft capital, id be very happy. He feels to me like if you’d take the best parts of Alex Smiths game and married it with the best parts of Kirk cousins game. He’s my favorite only behind Caleb Williams and it’s close there as well.
on a side note, I find it a little concerning that some are willing to write off peters if he picks Daniels and Daniels plays poorly while Maye plays well. I know we’ve got some really divided opinions on these QBs, but I think we should at least give him 3 or 4 years to decide if he is a good GM or not.
It would then depend on the other players acquired in this draft class. If he hits on a few day 2 and day 3 guys, but misses on the QB, I doubt ownership would be quick to replace Peters.
Plus, it will also depend on the optics of how the other players do which will take more than one season to figure out.
My guess is we will get a true five years from Peters, and if things go well, he will be extended at least once.

So we roll with Marriotta and hope we get Penix or Nix at 11 or 23?
I think it was more viable if we hadn’t dumped Howell. I would prefer it over Daniels for sure regardless.
Depends how you grade the QBs. If you grade JJ high then you could move up with Az or Chargers...
Needless to say, I’m willing to bet that there are more than a few teams that grade Daniels much higher than I do 😂

You would probably need next year’s 1 as well. AJ Brown was traded for 18 and 100. Dropping from 2 to 11 is steep.
Yep. I’m with that. Might even take a future 1 & 2.
I think Minny wants Maye. I’d be open for business if the offer is properly structured.
6 minutes ago, DogofWar1 said:Well with Jefferson I'd say it's "enough" since dude is worth a high first ez, BUT who is throwing to him.
Either take Penix at 11 or move up to 4/5 for the other JJ.

What would it take for Minnesota to trade up to #2?
11, 23, and Jefferson?
More?

pssssst
Guys, it's still JJ.

My WR crush is still McConkey. If he's there at 36 I sprint to the podium and hope to find LT at 40.
Mine is Malachi Corley but I wouldnt be mad with Ladd.

Is there any possibility that Penix is the target?

MJD thinks Penix will go to Gmen.
How dare you Maurice!

Isn't Coop more of an outside guy? I want a future signal caller MLB type.
A&M plays that weird 4-2-5 Ron Rivera college defense with two linebackers 😂 but if you watch how he is aligned on most plays he is smack dab in the middle of the field and his first read is the QB and he comes downhill quick on run plays. Seems like a guy suited for the middle in the NFL, but could potentially play anywhere.

What does burrow have over allen besides an inability to stay healthy?
Won on bigger stages and doesnt turn it over as much with the game on the line.
It's probably personal preference, but that's how I rank it at this point.

If Allen isn't elite then there is literally only one elite QB in the league in Mahomes.
Elite:Mahomes 1A
Burrow 1B
Stafford 1C
Gap
Then we can fist fight how to rank the rest but if I had to create a 2nd tier below the above “elite” guys, Stroud, Allen, Purdy, Ljax, and some others would slide in here, I think.
Herbert and Lawrence would be in tier 3 w Cousins, Goff and Tua.
That’s how I view it right now anyways.
Not sure what to do with Arod cuz he was elite for so long… being out kinda removes him from my list, but if I had to slot him based on green bay, I’d put him 1C above Stafford.

You never have a 50-50 split on such things.
I've got it:
59% Maye
40.5% Daniels
.5% JJ Island

Vegas betting odds continue to move in Maye’s direction.
A few weeks ago Maye was +150, now down to +110.
JD still the favorite, but not by much.
JD seems like a sucker bet…

People are ignoring Daniels career?
this is silly. Nobody is ignoring anything.
You should try to separate your bias towards the kid and not get so defensive about him. None of this is personal.
its not about stats or past success.
This pick is about projecting a players career potential for ten plus years.
A dual threat guy that weighs 190 soaking wet is probably the biggest risk there is at QB. Id take JJ over him because he projects higher in my model long term. Hell I’d take Penix over him too. For me he is QB6 in this draft. But to each their own.
If he is the pick I’ll just change the channel when he runs it so as to avoid the impending train wreck. I cant handle another high draft pick getting ruined by irresponsible play style.- 3
