  1. When you signed up for your TV service, the marketed price was (notional) $79.99/month. Once you get your first bill, your service is $79.99 + Fed fee + fed tax + state tax + state fee + regulatory fee + ...... so your price per month is really $95/month. The same applies to cell phone, home phone, milk, eggs, lumber, tools, car and everything else you buy. Why is it an issue when the Redskins do it?

Two words: Dan Snyder. The man could give away $100 to every STH and this board would be filled with people ****ing it wasn't $500.

    Thank you. Great example.

  2. what?

they pulled it out of the price printed on the ticket, but the cost of the seat (as charged by the redskins) was the same.

what the hell are you talking about?

not trying to be combative or offensive. there's just no logic (at least any based in reality) in the post, and i'm trying to figure out what it is that has people so upset about the topic...

SonnyAndSam: not trying to argue with you, or irritate you... but seriously, what is the problem with talking about the true cost of the ticket (fees/taxes included)?

My only point is that showing the cost of the ticket and the cost of the tax separately is no freakin' big deal like MTH likes to make it. I agree with him on 99.9% of the stuff he says....this is probably the one issue we disagree on. I just do not see the big deal. In fact, I think it is good for all consumers to know where their money goes to, especially all the insideous government taxes and fees. Government at all levels has gotten away with slipping taxes and fees into all kinds of stuff we buy and use and it has in the past been buried in the total cost of the item or service buy businesses. In the past decade, lots of businesses, not just Danny, have separated the cost of item and the taxes and fees so you can see how much you are paying for the item or service and how much government is ****ing you over.

Discussing the true increasing cost of the ticket itself is a whole 'nother discussion.

  3. Reading through some of these posts alll I can think to myself is,

People that have a problem with the ticket being printed with the price and without taxes and fees

must need peeled off the ceiling each month when they open their cell phone bill. :ols:

I thought of exactly the same thing when I was composing my response last night and extremeskins burped and lost my response. It was too late and I just shortened my reply. But you are exactly correct. Perfect example of how businesses are letting people know how government at all levels are part of the increasing costs of their puchases.

People still think the Federal government is giving them free money when they get a tax refund. They don't realize they have been overpaying the government all year long and giving the Feds an interest free loan. The Federal government LOVES to give out tax refunds in April and May because the Treasury got to use all that money all year long for free.

  4. I know we've had this discussion, but.. again... I'm not followin' you, bro.

    In 1999, a ticket that showed $55 was $55.

In fact, in 2005, at ticket for the same seat that showed $79 was $79.

And suddenly, in 2006, a ticket for the same seat that showed $99 is $108.90.

    So...

What was the cost of the seat in 1997-1999? $55.

What was the cost of the same seat in 2000-2005? $79.

What was the cost of the seat in 2006-present?

    :secret: Hint: It wasn't $99.

If somebody in 1999 asked a fan how much he paid for his seat, he might smile and say $55. And if I overheard him, I'd just shrug.

If somebody in 2006 asked the same fan how much he paid for his seat, he might smile and say $99. And if I overheard him, I'd say to myself "This guy's a sucker."

Your premise is factually incorrect. That "$55 ticket" was actually $49.50 PLUS $5.50 in Prince Georges County amusement tax. The Skins just included the cost of the tax. It was always there. You were deceived from the beginning. The "cost" of the ticket was $49.50 and not $55. The $5.50 is a tax. Danny was only charging $49.50 to attend the game. PG County taxed you for the rest.

I guess you really believe the amount you get paid to work is what you really take home to momma to pay the bills, too? None of those income or social security taxes are ever deducted from the amount your employer promised to pay you. (I think you are self employed, right; but you get my point.)

Cool. I finally disagree with SonnyandSam about something!

The tax extraction from the face value of the ticket, was a very significant change for a season ticket holder. No, it has never been hidden from us, we're all fully aware that it's there. It raised the cost of being a season ticket holder by 10% without raising the face value of the ticket. That's the only thing that people are pointing out.

The other very significant change for the season ticket holder was to force us to purchase the pre-season games. That used to be optional. Again, not trying to blame Dan Snyder, or trying to make it seem like the Redskins are doing something that other teams don't.

Both are changes that significantly raised the cost of being a season ticket holder without raising the face value of the tickets. Not complaining, just pointing out that a face value discussion should also include the additional and very significant increases in cost to the season ticket holder.

I can't help it if you are wrong once in a while..... :silly:

  5. i think the only thing thats ever made of it is when you're talking about the real cost of owning tickets. and anyone who knows anything about marketing understands the advantage you get when you advertise your most expensive general admission ticket as 99$ instead of 108$ and some change. it's stupid that it matters, but it does...

10% tax is a hefty tax, especially when you're talking about a couple thousand of dollars. we're not talking 4% on a 5 dollar burger here.

    ---------- Post added June-29th-2011 at 12:33 AM ----------

he was talking about the price printed on the ticket

    not the invoice

come on, you're better than this.

First, Chip knows I was kidding with him. Did you not see the silly face? My reply to him was totally sarcastic. Besides, tickets cost $99.00 not $100.:silly::silly::silly: See it this time?

Your right 10% is a hefty tax. But Dan Snyder is not responsible for it; Prince Georges County is. And PG makes/forces Dan Snyder to take that money out of your pocket to pay PG County. Exactly why should Dan Snyder HIDE the tax so you all think Dan Snyder is forcing you to pay 108.90 per ticket instead of $99.00 to him and $9.90 to the politician. I call that transparency. You know where your money is going. Show me any business that does not exclude sales tax, amusement tax, regulatory costs, etc. from bills, receipts, tickets.

Besides, all the tickets are season tickets. The season ticket owner is the one that gets the invoice that clearly shows all the costs, including shipping and handling costs, and now internet service charge payment fee (or whatever the three dollars I pay to pay in three installments.) The price on the ticket means nothing to no one.

  6. It's amazing to think lower level Caps tickets could ever be in such high demand for the prices they charge and people complain about $100 a seat for the Redskins. Never thought I would see that day happen.

Hold on there Chip! Those tickets really cost $108.90. Can't forget that 10% Prince Georges County Tax that Danny doesn't count on the invoice....oh wait.....he does....doesn't he? :silly:

It's not like every other friggin' sports franchise, grocery store, Home Depot, concert, etc, etc markets the selling price WITHOUT the friggin' tax.:soapbox:

    sorry....bad day at work......

  7. Yes. The difference is, JKC included it in the price of the tickets.

Too much is made of this tax thing. The tickets still cost the same. All Snyder did was show the ticket cost and the tax separately on the invoice a few years ago. Big ****in deal.....

  8. I think they have reached their maximum price point on LL end zone seats (as evidenced by the fact that they are giving them away like candy during this year's upgrade process), but the demand for LL sideline seats is significant enough to withstand a price increase, IMO. In addition, it is pretty silly that someone 20 rows up in the corner end zone is paying the same price as someone sitting below Dan's box on the 50. They obviously aren't going to lower the price for LL end zone, but they could raise the price for LL sideline and I think they wouldn't have any problem selling the tickets.

I certainly am not hoping for any price increases for any fans in any section, but after 6 years of flat prices I can see it coming as soon as the team generates some excitement and follows it up with an interesting offseason (see 2005 season).

I personally would pay more than $99/ticket for LL sideline season tickets, and I think a lot of other fans would too.

You may be right. I agree that I really do not see the end zone seats going up much at all. If you think the upgrades were plentiful this year; last year I think even more people were upgraded to the lower level. Not only were there more upgrade messages on Extremeskins, they moved the band to the Club level which opened a lot of seats.

I could see them raising the ticket prices on the sideline seats. But Danny (and the other owners) need to tred cautiously, I really believe they are reaching their breaking point on seat prices IF they want to continue selling out stadiums. If that no longer becomes a prioritiy, I could see higher sideline prices. HD tv and soon 3D HD tv will completely cut out another huge chunk of the fan base willing to spend all that money on seats, parking passes, travel expenses and tailgate expenses. Guys like me currently drive over 200 miles just to go to the game plus the tailgating costs. At some point, guys like me are going to say **** it.

  9. Just wait. The next time they raise ticket prices at FedEx, I'd be willing to bet they will have a different pricing structure. Currently all lower level, non obstructed view tixs are $99 plus tax (which is a complete joke they took the tax out of the price of the tickets. Skins are only organization I know that separates the two). I'd be willing to bet LL sideline, LL corners and LL endzone are all different prices.

First, there has not been a GA ticket increase for 6 years. As long as I recall all the seats in the lower level have been priced the same. MTH or RFK could verify this. So I don't know what you are basing your opinion on since they have not priced any LL seat differently in the past. Second, I think breaking the $100 barrier, even on sideline seats is pushing it; and even more so for end zone seats. Snyder has been hurt by pushing the price point on many of his seats: certainly all the premium seats; and even the GA seats have been vacated at a much faster rate than his first 5-7 years. At some point, there becomes a point of diminishing returns for the business (Snyder) and the higher seat price. He may be gunshy based on what has transpired the last couple years with the bad economy and bad team. And if he does stagger the seat prices, he reduces the revenue he would have gained by increasing it for all LL seats.

After six years, a ticket increase is due....but the NFL teams have to be wondering just how much more they can ask of STHs when it has become much more attractive to stay home in your man cave to watch the game on an HD screen. I am certainly close to my breaking point......

  10. How often are you guys moved? It seems like a big part of this website has been moved and that's something that never really happened with the Jets in my years as a season ticket holder, at least that I'm aware of (didn't start paying for them/dealing with them myself until 2006).

Ah yes...another reason any STH would despise a move to PSLs. No seat upgrades.....I completely forgot about that. The only way you can upgrade in a stadium with a PSL is to sell your PSL and buy another.

A lot of us have moved quite a bit over the years. This is my ninth season as a STH and have moved 5 times from Section 424, row 27 to my new seats this year, Section 108, row 17. I've gone from nosebleeds on the goal line to corner end zone on the lower level.

EDIT... Hey L7Panda.....did you hear Meadowlands Stadium is going to be named after MetLife? Not official yet.

  11. Is a PSL a one time fee? Or is it every season?

It is a one time fee for owning the privilege of purchasing season tickets. You still have to pay the season ticket cost each year. But you normally can sell your PSL to someone else who can then buy your season tickets.

  12. How did the Redskins ask for you to pay for your seats?

The Jets gave us three options:

    1. Pay in full by April 1st

    2. Pay 1/2 April 1st, 1/2 August 1st

    3. Six payments, one per month, March-August.

I went with option 2. -- If a CBA isn't reached by then, the bill isn't due until a new CBA is reached and if there's no season (although now it looks like we'll have a deal in the next week or two) the money can be refunded or moved into 2012.

    1. Pay in full by March 1 and receive free tickets to Kenny Chesny concert, or ManU soccer game, or a MD football game....I think it was MD/ND

    2. Pay in three installments: Mar 1, April 1, May 1

Those were the official options. Some who did not pay on time and were called by the Redskins TO were also offered 10/20 percent down and payment due when the lockout was over.

We were also offered refunds if any games were not played but never were given specifics.

Did you have to pay a PSL on your seats? If so, what did your PSL cost and where are your seats located.

We have "NO STINKIN" SEAT LICENSES" (quote from our former owner, Jack Kent Cooke)

  13. That hasn't been working for me for a week or so... anyone else having problems with it?

Interesting....it does not work for me at home anymore using Firefox but I can use it at work where we have to use Internet Explorer. CapCrunch link worked for me from work using IE.

  14. Conspiracy Theory S&S: I was offered (as many of you probably as well) clubs by the TO for 2011 with the promise that if/when I opted out in 2012, that I would be moved to sideline LL. I seriously considered it but there is just no way I could justify ponying up the money to pay off the balance that they said I would have if I took them up on the offer. My opinion, in 2011/2012 this has become the new version of the TD club. Remember, in previous years the TO offered LL tickets to UL STHers if they joined the club level for a season. Now that many ULs are getting moved to LL, this is the only offer to get GA ticket holders to join the clubs if only for 1 season.

Thus, little to no upgrades to sidelines.

Granted I did get moved from 108 to 106, but 108/107 and 106 are pretty much in the same area. IE I don't consider 106 a sideline, just closer to the SL.

You jumped two sections. Now you are one section away from sideline seats. Section 105 is the beginning of sideline seats. Sorry you feel it is not fair but you got a better upgrade than most of us. And all those offers for people to move to the club level for one season did not affect this year. It may affect you (and me) from moving forward next year....but lets wait until next year to find out if the club offers affects our upgrades.

  15. I am in Sect 108 already and got NO upgrade thanks to the asshats in the ticket office. In fact, I paid in full before the deadline for the free Chesney/MD/ManU offer.

Well, we've heard of no sideline upgrades on the LL at all. Maybe the sideline STHs just did not give up their seats. would you? And there is no guarantee of an upgrade. I know we were all hoping for major upgrades because of the lockout and the economy and poor play....but maybe sideline seats just do not open up often. Now that I think about it someone did get moved to section 106....kind of where I had hoped to get moved.

  16. Does anyone know how many rows are in 206? Would you consider 206 sideline or conner endzone?

Most of us consider sideline to be between the goallines; I would consider section 206 corner end zone. 204 is definitely sideline; 205 might be depending on your seat.

don't know how many seats are in that section; I would guess 10-12...but I don't really know. Mark probably would....or you could check out his everything you ever wanted to know about FedEx Field thread...its probably in their somewhere.....probably behind the kitchen sink.... :D

  17. On the other hand, you might be able to swing a deal moving down or even off the wait list if you are willing to purchase two singles and convince the TO to put in writing that the next year, they combine the two seats somewhere in a nearby section. For example, it might be a good way to get sideline seats faster if you are willing to put up with the inconvenience for one season. Selling singles to a sporting event is always a ***** and Ticket offices hate to leave singles. It's also why they hate selling odd number of ticket groups...it can lead to single empty seats in a row.

  18. If you mean by UL to lower rows in the UL there have been none that I have seen yet on this thread. You'd have to assume that is what they are working on now and it may be muddled by the relocation of the UL end zoners.

I'm interested in the highest rows of Upper Levelers that moved to the LL. Just based on memory I think Row 11 or 12 or so. Anyone moved from higher up in the UL to the lower bowl?

somone went from row 28 to the LL....shocked me. But I think a lot of people do not want to upgrade to the LL because of cost or because they do not want to be put in the end zone.

EDIT See post 437 in this thread. HTTR F Dallas says he was in row 28.

  19. I got my seat upgrade today. Not much, moved from 111 to 108. Think that puts me by the tunnel.

That's a three section move. I think that is the biggest upgrade we've heard about yet on the LL. Everyone else has reported a one section upgrade. Congrats....and by the way...that is my new section....I'm in row 17 seats 7&8

  20. With everybody getting massive upgrades and not a whole lot of folks on this board talking about being first time STH's I am thinking they might not sell out this year. If they do not sell all of the UL tickets I bet they are going to move everybody closer to the 50's and say that the UL from the 10 yard line to the endzone are special construction areas or something dumb like that.

All of the people that "upgraded" to a 100 inch TV might be screwed.

None of this really affects me though. I will be in the LL this year.

The Redskins announced publicly that they did not sell many tickets to their wait list this year because of the movement of so many end zone people to the sidelines. And that is consistent with how few people have been online saying they "are so excited getting season tickets for the first time." We do normally get dozens of people saying they are getting seats for the first time. So I'm not sure there is really any issue with selling all the UL seats. They probably had to move thousands of people from the end zones to the sidelines.

  21. Hahaha. I just figured it could be done online like everything else today. Isn't emailing the ticket office technically talking to a live person ;) Either way I'll call up, what exactly should I be saying? I paid immediately on time and see if I can get closest to the 50 as I can?

Based on some of the complaints in this thread, email response is not very reliable. (Although that's how I got to know my Redskins contact; last person I ever expected to respond to my email.)

I've done this a couple of times. They used to require a written letter with any preferences... Just call the TO and give them your account number. Ask if your seats have been assigned yet. If not, then ask if they could put a note on your file that you would like to sit between the 30 yard lines if possible; Or say you want to be as close to the 50 yard line as possible if that is your preference. You might ask for home or visitor side if it matters to you. For example, the visitor side gets a lot more sun. Can get darn warm in the early games but MUCH warmer in Nov and Dec than the home side. On the other hand, the sun is in your eyes some; although you are looking down. I used to sit on the visitor side UL before I moved downstairs. No guarantee that it will make a difference. But the TO has done a fair job of meeting my requests over the years.

My last request was to be moved as close to the home sideline as possible when I was moved to the LL. They put me in section 109 (near the Skins tunnel) while almost every other person being upgraded last year ended up in the middle of the end zone or on the visitor side. On the LL, the restrooms and food/drink stands are super crowded on the visitors side because the addition of the OV seats increased the number of warm bodies by about 8,000 people more than JKC planned on that side of the stadium. Home side restrooms and stands are much less crowded on the home side.....plus I wanted to watch the interaction on the bench.

Just be polite and excited about your new tickets; you get more with sugar than vinegar momma always said..........

  22. The thing is, I paid for rows 1-15, I did the math / parking pass and it comes out to the price it should. Where do I note online where I want to sit?

You cannot do it online. You have to call and talk to a real live person. :D I know a real conversation is hard on you young guys who are used to texting, tweeting, facebooking, etc. but the Redskins are a little slow adopting technology. You have to physically talk to someone in the ticket office. :D

  23. Sonny, RFKFedex, I know you and some others might be able to give me an answer, maybe not, even a guess would be welcomed at this point. Being this is my first year as a season ticket holder - and I chose Sidelines Rows 1-15 (paid immediately when I got the notice, if that matters due to the order they hand them out), what are the odds I'll be between the 30-50?

I think it is just luck of the draw and how they handle the end zone upgrades, which is a real monkey wrench for you. Who knows where they will or will have to move those folks. Based onseat cost, they should all go to seats 16-28; but some may squawk about being so high compared to their end zone seats.

It also depends on where you were on the waiting list and how soon you paid before everyone else. All you can really do is make sure your seat preference is noted on your account. If you have not asked a TO agent to put between 30-50 on your account, you best do so before the phone lines close today.

Good luck....but I think you have a week or two more to wait. We have yet to hear from people getting upgrades in the UL; except for those moved to the LL.
