1. Ok....that is exactly what happened to me and others last year. We were asked if we wanted to still upgrade to the LL and willing to have our CC charged for the additional amount. It happened to me on April 29. And I found out my actual seat location online in late May and got my notification letter in June. I think dgreen is probably correct. They have already auto upgraded folks who selected online to upgrade to the LL but still have openings available because so many people did not renew. So they are opening it up to others. Works out great for those who paid on time. And isn't the recent news that the owners and players are meeting regularly making you happy you paid on time? We'll have a season....too much money at stake for everyone.

2. So I just got the following email:

Dear XXXXXXX

Great news! We have begun our annual Auto Upgrade relocation process for our General Admission season ticket holders. You may be eligible for an upgrade to the lower level; however, quantities are limited and assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please contact the Redskins Ticket Office immediately at 301-276-6033.

We appreciate your prompt attention to this important matter.

Hail to the Redskins!!!

I call wait on hold 15 minutes and it transfers me to voice mail. Call back wait another 15 minutes and it transfers me to VM again. I left a message, I doubt they will call back though.

Congratulations...although I don't understand why this is happening...what happened to seniority and moving people down who were in the lowest rows in the UL first?

My advice....also send an email to them saying you accept and give permission to charge your CC....all seats cost the same on the lower level. And tell them any seat preferences you may have.

And keep calling until you get through.....good luck

3. First lets get a few things clear:

1- this was back in april. I may be remembering some details incorrectly. I believe it was sideline (not like 50 yard line), but i may be mistaken. It was definitely lower level.

2- the justification for the offer was 'you've been a season ticket holder with us for a long time'. this is absolutely true. about 50 years (they were passed to me from my grandfather).

3- I knew i couldn't afford lower level at this time, told him that, so no more details were discussed. So no, no offer was made based on buying club level (that very well may have been where he was headed with the offer, we didn't get that far), and no specific section was mentioned

4- my comment on the auto upgrade process was directed at upper level, and based on my previous comments and that time frame. As of the Monday following the draft weeekend (when they called me), i know the auto upgrade process (for at least the upper level...) had not been started. He specifically told me he was calling me because he wanted to get me to renew BEFORE it started. If it has started since, I would not know. I was simply stating that with the context of that specific time frame.

So, thats to sum up the story. Hopefully I addressed the issues. I took the parking offer because I wanted parking anyways (cash parking has become a mess for me since my favorite spot has closed), and it was cheaper.

Well that explains it. Someone last year got upgraded to the LL because they had been very long STHs...something like 30-40 years and had never been upgraded at FedEx Field. The agent was probably trying to correct a past wrong for a family that had been "in the family" for a very long time. I understand that type of upgrade offer in very limited circumstances.

I think the ticket office is in over there heads with the drastic reduction of seats being removed from the upper endzones and deciding where to relocate those whose seats are no longer there. I dont see them getting it all completed in time this year and as far as upgrading everyone and then having that info ready in to send to the print company to print the tickets. We all may just the generic printed tickets from the Redskins ticket office, especially since we dont even know when and if a season is going ti start on time. The paid portion of my ticket office has been removed for about a month now and no one who has tickets has even heard of any ticket upgrades anywhere?

On what basis do you make that assertion? they are already done with the lower level upgrades because they have started on the upper level. They have lots of time to make this happen. In fact, the process may be easier than last year if it is true they are not offering tickets to people on the wait list. Calling and signing up new STHs on the wait list is very time consuming. The agents can use all that time to move existing STHs around; a much less time consuming process with their new software they installed last year.

4. I'm in row 4 upper level and my seats are missing as well. Does anyone remember from last year how long they disappear before the new seat assignment is released/posted? I know they may or may not be calling confirming the price increase before assignment but I'm just curious. Interesting you've gotten the word from Row 14. I know there were some decent jumps from last year (first 10 rows or so) but I'm not sure anyone went from 14 to LL. That does make me wonder a lot about the number of paid in full renewals.

I think it was just a few days last year. But my seats have been missing for 8 days now. I know how the system works but even I am getting a little concerned. But the fact that so many others are seeing the same thing missing tells me it is just the normal upgrade process. I even complained about the lack of even a note on our invoices saying the auto upgrade process was going on and seats assignments would be announced shortly to a contact I have with the Skins. I think he is going to look into it. It's like everything the Skins do, they don't keep the STHs informed of what is happening and then wonder why there is a firestorm to put out.....witness what has happenedw with the removal of the end zone seats. A simple letter to potentially affected STHs would have prevented the most recent firestorm.

Last year I was called on April 29 to verify I was still willing to pay the higher price of LL tickets but did not know my seat location until late May I believe. The TO seems to be 2-3 weeks behind their schedule from last year.

5. I was in Row 18

FWIW, parking was not even discussed, nor was the 10% down option.

I mentioned parking towards the end of the call, and he said they could talk about that and they could definitely work with me. (whatever the hell that means)

Well, it sounds like the TO has been told to work with you folks losing your seat now that the cat is out of the bag. That is a good thing for you if you want to work with them to continue having season tickets. And its only fair they make sure you are happy. They ARE taking away your seats without even asking or letting you know until the **** hit the fan. Why the Redskins cannot figure out that you cannot keep secrets in the internet age is beyond me. They keep doing stupid and embarrassing things. They should have sent a letter to each end zone seat holder before removing seats and simply said "because of new stadium improvements, your seats may be removed" and then say how they were going to satisfy you. Just when you think they are improviing, they do stupid **** like this.

6. I presume if you were upgraded to the lower level, it would be to the end zone. I don't understand how they are offering a LL upgrade unless you are already in the first 5-10 rows. Last year the only upgrades in the UL were down in the same section. So obviously, they may not be able to upgrade you into the first five rows because those are filled already. I suppose they have decided they cannot upgrade you towards the 50 yard line if it will put you in a higher row. Hmmmm....I suppose some of these upgrades are going to happen because the TO is trying not to put people in a worse seat. But I would think a lot of sideline UL folks would be pretty upset if endzone folks were moved down to the LL ahead of them.

Were you in one of the first 10 rows last season?

7. Just checked my account and my seats are no longer listed! I was in 442 last year...

Are you in the first five rows or so? You may be moving downstairs! Downstairs upgrades are done prior to other upgrades on the upper level.

8. I agree. This used to be the modus operandi of the TO. But it changed drastically last year. If this were true, we would have heard many people reporting such transactions. And we have not. In fact, lots of people who have paid late or tried to negotiate upgrades have stated emphatically that the TO is not offering seat upgrades for renewing seats. We have heard of a few people who have been offered green parking passes and/or the 10% down payment and pay the rest when the lockout is lifted. But the TO is not offering seat upgrades to retain seats on a regular basis. We did have one fan who reported he called last week to renew but his seats were already gone and no longer available to him. The TO gave him seats one section over to keep his season tickets. That is the only case that I have read about and I have been monitoring all three of the ticket threads here on Extremeskins.

9. If I do not upgrade this year I will try that next year. If I do not get an offer I will be OK. I had a good run. 6 years with tickets. And no more $2500credit card bills to pay.

tshile is not correct. The TO has started the auto upgrade process. It started a week ago. Many of us with seats in the lower level 100 section have seen our seats disappear from our 2011 invoice. This happened last year as people were being upgraded. The TO works its way around the 100 level, then the 200 level. Your preference will be taken into account. Last year, I sat in section 424, goal line visitor side. I asked the TO to put a note on my account that if I were ever upgraded to the lower level, I wanted to be placed as near to the home side as possible. And that happened. In fact, most of the messages last year were people being placed in the center of the endzone or nearer to the visitor side. I was placed in section 109 near the Redskins tunnel.

Give it a few weeks.....they'll get to you. It does take time and the season if it ever starts is still several months away.

Oh...I would guess there are fewer upgrade options for 200 level folks. The rules are they move you closer to the 50 yard line approximately near the row you are coming from. Since there are fewer seats in the 200 sections, there may also be less turnover. I'm just trying to apply some logic; don't know if this truly is the case.

10. Where are you guys looking?

• Sign in to your online account as usual
• Click "Edit Profile" at top left
• Click "View/Pay Invoices" on the left
• Click on your most recent invoice number

If your seats still show, the upgrade process for you has not happened yet. If your seats are missing, you are gettin an upgrade but it has not been posted yet. And don't call the TO asking what it is...they get very cranky and cannot tell you more than you will be notified.

11. There are pros and cons to aisle seats. Aisle seats put you closer to the beer guy, the bathroom and exiting after the game; quicker getaway. I'm a big guy so the aisle seat also affords extra shoulder room. But as other point out, you get up and down a lot more because people want out. I sat two seats away from the aisle this past season whereas I was in the middle of the row for about 8 years. It was a big difference getting up and down. And I got bad knees and hips.

I'm not worring about an aisle seat yet; I want to move as close to the 50 yard line on the home side first.

12. From 130 to 129. Not the best upgrade, but better seats than last year. I'm slowly making my way around the corner. When I came to the lowers, I was in 132 (dead center endzone), and I was not a big fan because the goalposts obstruct. 130 was alright, but I'm glad to be on the corner now.

Considering you paid late and only had to put 10 percent down, I think you did just fine. You still got a one section upgrade. I'm hoping for more than a one section upgrade but I paid on time and in full. Snyder is using my money to pay coaches and employee salaries....well.....I want to think it is....it makes me feel better. My money is probably paying his mortgage or for a new suit. :D

13. No one has reported any UL upgrades yet. And only a few of us on the LL have reported that it appears the upgrade process has begun because our LL seat assignments have disappeared from our online accounts. Several people who have called in to the TO has confirmed the upgrade process has started. But like you were told in the email, it starts with the LL first and then goes to the UL.

14. I decided to renew today. Called the TO, and my seats in 130 were gone. I suppose that the upgrade process is ongoing. I was able to get a section over and a few rows better. I also got my green parking back. They are still doing the 10 percent down, balance at end of lockout special, so I took advantage of it.

I tried to get over to 240 or so, and they were having no part of it! Even if I offered to buy more tickets!

By "over", do you mean closer to the 50? Or did you get sent towards the middle of the end zone? i.e did you get a one section upgrade?

15. You forgot to mention the Raiders S&S. Though I've read on their board that they've recently discontinued PSLs due to lack of demand. It's not helping the Niners stadium effort.

Contrary to board opinion, I never professed to knowing it all :silly: I thought the Raiders abolished PSLs 5-6 years ago when they took over the ticketing/financial part of the stadium from the city or some non-profit group set up by the city.

I only listed the NFL teams; there are also several MLB, NBA, and NHL teams that use PSLs to pay for the temples owned by billionaires and used by millionaires. OK...I exaggerated to include hockey players as millionaires.....I think they make a little over minimum wage these days.....:evilg:

16. They have those at Bank of America. Panther fans are a bunch of suckers.

Not just Panther fans; lots of recent stadiums have seat licenses (or variations of it)....Giants, Jets, Cowboys, Eagles, Ravens, Bears, Bengals, Browns, Texans, Steelers, Seahawks, Rams and Titans....did I miss any?

A LOT of teams are far greedier than our Redskins. 13 teams make you pay for the privilege of buying season tickets. We can thank Jack Kent Cooke for this.

17. Whenever a new stadium is built, PSLs will be there

And that is exactly why I do not want a new stadium. The only fans demanding a new stadium are those who never attend in person or those who are filthy rich and have no problem forking over tens of thousands of dollars to Danny Snyder for the privilege of spending even more money to actually buy the season tickets.

18. Is it the fan's responsibility of getting rid of the seat license? Or does the license just give dibs on the seats and is the highest form of profit for the ball club? How are most fans going to spend their money since there will unlikely be a season. I would say, go to more Nationals games!

There are no seat licenses at FedEx Field.

19. That's completely baffling that they would make it a point to call you and offer you perks (like Green parking) to get you to re-up, and then turn around a day later and let you walk because they can't answer these simple questions. Seems like there are still communications breakdowns that need to be fixed.

Not entirely. I agree the Skins should have had this planned better to make the announcement prior to draft day and have a plan in place on how they were going to treat those STHs forced out of their seats. However, I have been one of the fervent supporters along with other fans that the TO had to stop making preferential deals for people who threatened to drop their seats. This used to be standard operating procedure. You could call the TO and depending on which ticket agent you got, strike a deal without regard to seniority or location of your seats. A person who threatens to drop their seats should not be able to jump in front of someone who paid their tickets on time. It simply is not fair.

Tshile is probably better off buying game by game from brokers/stubhub unless he wants the cache/privilege of having season tickets in his family for a long time. For some of us, that is important. My son, for example is 22, and knows that when I croak, my lower level seats will be going to him. No need to start in the nosebleeds again. Some have had their tickets in their family since the Redskins moved from Boston ;) It's a personal decision that each person has to make as to what is important to them.

Almost forgot the point, I was going to make.....All those STHs are going to get significant seat upgrades in some way. They may just get moved to the other side of the stadium and move down or move down below row 15 where the cost goes up. It may be that they are doing the green parking upgrade as part of the compensation....although it would be nice if they said that. I think the other person reporting the green parking offer was also in the endzone....although I'm not positive about that.

Clearly the Skins have not done a good job with the transition here....although it probably is only affecting a handful of STHs who happen to be as anal as those of us on this board. The announcement will likely come long before most people would even know their seats have been torn from the stadium. Sometimes those of us that share info on here forget that we are typically the very first to know about any Redskins news before it is announced to the general Redskins public.

---------- Post added May-3rd-2011 at 06:36 PM ----------

I just got offered to move to the club for one year for $1999 per seat. In 2012, I would move (guaranteed in writing) back to the LL sideline. Strongly considering this offer

Are your current seats in the end zone where the seats have been removed?

20. Once they started yanking seats, they should have had some explanation for those people with season tickets in those seats.Even if they are guaranteeing an upgrade but don't know where you are going to. Some people do not want to upgrade to more expensive seats and the TO should have been able to answer your question tshile. That is definitely unacceptable.

To RFKFedEx......Not ALL those seats were empty. I'd say roughly half those upper end zone seats were filled at most if not all the games. So there is definitely a cut in revenue; especially IF the team ever plays like a playoff team. Some of that may be made up with SRO ticket revenue if that is what they are planning.

21. Read a thread on another board which indicated that there will be party decks in the uppers (as TK reported in an ES thread) at both ends of the stadium. Its weird that it doesn't appear that they've started one side yet.....maybe they'll wait until after the Chesney concert, I dunno.

There's been a good number of times where people have told me they like sitting in the end zone due to the ability to watch the play develop, so I would imagine there would be some that would not be happy with this.

From the pictures posted by others, it looks like the first 10-15 rows will continue to have seats. So end zone folks still have seats if that is what they prefer.

Man, if they are going to do both endzones, that is one heck of a lot of seats to remove....and a lot less revenue for Danny.

22. I have lower level seats. I logged in to my account online and my seats have not moved. I guess I did not get relocated this year.

I don't believe they have even started the auto upgrade process. They start with the lower level first working around the bowl towards the 50. Then they move to the upper bowl.

23. Can't wait to read the S storm from people who are relocated from these seats.

I don't think there will be that much of an issue as long as those moved are moved to upgrades seats; i.e lower or to the sidelines. But I would have thought we would have heard from someone with seats in those sections. Wouldn't you think the Skins TO would have contacted those seat holders, especially those above row 15 to advise them that they would be moved and possible to more expensive seats?

Frankly, the bigger issue is the loss of so many seats over the last two years in club seats and now GA seats sends a clear message that there is no waiting list any more and that the Skins are having great difficulty selling tickets. Good for some of us but very bad news for Danny Snyder and the Redskins.

I suppose it provides a lower price point for attracting fans but you just know all those standing room party drunks are going to try to take "empty" seats in the upper and lower bowl. We had at least three fights near my seats in the lower bowl cause by people taking seats belonging to someone else who had the tickets to those seats. In one game last year, I watched a guy move 3 times (once directly in front of me) with his girlfriend. In his case, he always left quiety without any fight erupting but each time he just moved down lower until the seat owners came back from food/beer/bathroom.

24. I'm a first year season ticket holder and I bought 2 tickets at the $484 price point (top half of the endzone). I paid in full in January. Around what row should I expect to be placed?

That's a tough question to answer. A couple years ago, you would have been in the top five rows of the stadium. But with the economy and now the lockout, the Redskins are having difficulty selling season tickets. In another thread, someone has noted that the Skins just started offering fan zone passes for a single game because a "limited number of season tickets" are still available. The fact that they are advertising tickets still available and offering a signup inducement tells me that "limited number" probably means "we still got a lot of tickets left to sell".

You bought the cheapest tickets so you will be above row 15 but lower than 28. Anything below 15 would cost you more money. Just an FYI, there is a huge difference in how close the field and players are if you move below 15 compared to being 10-15 rows higher. The upper deck is very steep.

Welcome to the show! It is a lot of fun to attend games in person....of course, it is a lot more fun leaving the game if the Skins ever win. :D You have a pretty long trip from Norfolk. Traffic on 95 above Quantico gets quite heavy and slow on game days. Consider arriving early to tailgate and using the Eastern Shore route to avoid some of the traffic.
