  1. i'm goin to watch Mayweather/Hatton on a stream(bless the internet  ), can't see myself paying for what will be a one-sided beatdown of Hatton.

It would seem that Hatton's style is tailor-made for Mayweather to dominate. March in, get stung, march in again, get KOed. I hope he flattens Mayweather though.

  2. Why do you think George is so talented? Not tryin to argue with you, just trying to figure out why people were so high on him. Everyone was swinging from Ed Hermans tip as well and he still hasn't shown me a damn thing except for how to get beat. JJ isn't enough and IMO beating up on a punching bag is a hell of a lot different since the punching bag doesn't hit back. George's standup was pretty weak IMO and if the guys he beat would have respected him less I think he would have gotten his ass handed to him. Keep in

Speaking of the punching bag not hitting back, anyone been watching the Hatton/Mayweather 24/7? Hatton was making fun of Floyd, mocking how he doesn't look when he hits the pads. He was like "I could stand there and do this for 6 hours, problem is the pads don't hit back." :D

You have a point about George in that my evaluation of his talent is probably influenced by how the show presented him. Maybe he's not THAT good, who knows. (?)

The other fighters were NOT psyched about getting in the octagon with him though. That said a lot to me about George. Hey- I could be totally wrong. We never find out much about how good these guys are until they show us what they have in real MMA bouts, so like I said- you may have a strong point. Personally, I expect to see Danzig and Sotoropoulos become bigger stars than Tommy in the long run.

Anybody agree with Arroyo backing out or is he a wuss?

The Mayweather-Hatton fight looks NICE. I'm going to skip the PPV though. I save my tv money for MMA only now and the 12/29 UFC 75 card looks too good to miss. Besides, Mayweather-Hatton will be re-aired in a week or two by HBO. (I hope.)

  3. Serra mocking Hughes was funny as hell to me. I don't like either one to be honest. Not that big a deal to me either way.

and i don't think it would've mattered who coached them, but Mac and Tommy would've been in the finals anyway.

Good post. George is better than he showed last night though. Not sure he would have been able to prevent a KTFO even if he hadn't been poked in the eye, but he was definitely a top talent in this group.

  4. Poetic justice. Exactly what Serra deserves for being such a ****y punk the entire show and for constantly, incesantly making fun of Hughes. I'll say it again, I'm not a huge Hughes fan but Serra really showed his ass the entire show with the name calling and constant insults. Karma is a biatch and her fat ass sat right on Serra's tiny little head.

I don't disagree with you completely, Zo, but isn't Hughes a ****y jerk ALL the time? Didn't he treat Serra like a non-event leading up to the series and didn't he act like Serra would be no competition even for GSP?

I also thought Serra laid it on a little thick throughout the show, but he could have had good reason. Hughes isn't exactly "Miss Congeniality."

  5. I chose at the last moment not to order this PPV event. My cousin was IMing me the results and it sounded like a forgettable night overall. The upcoming TUF finale is free on Spike and I'll be psyched to order UFC 79: Nemesis right before the holiday.

    Predictions on the TUF Finale?

  6. I'm a Nick Diaz fan but I have to give credit to KJ Noone. He simply hit harder than Nick and had great takedown defense. Diaz will want a rematch and it will be interesting to see one.

Kimbo proved nothing last night except that he can still throw a thunderous punch. I wish we had seen more.

  7. Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson is fighting this Saturday in an EliteXC show. He's fighting Bo Cantrell (10-10).

My opinion on Kimbo is that he has taken great steps towards becoming a legitiment MMA fighter. I read an article on him the other day. He talked about how he was always high during his street fights. He said he hasn't had sex in 4 months, hasn't done weed in a long time, he feels pure and ready for professional fighting. Also, he trains with Bas Rutten, whom I think is one of the best MMA trainers out there. I can't wait to see where this guy can go.

I am impressed with the fact that he's making Bas happy with his training routine. That shows me something right there. However, I'll reserve judgment on Kimbo until he fights some bigger talent. Choking out a senile Ray Mercer is not enough for me to start praising an internet backyard fighter. (If he had out-boxed Ray, I be VERY impressed.)

  8. Yep they did it again, most of the MMA sites had the fight going to Bart Palaszewski by split decision.

The IFL really has a hard-on for Chris. He's good, but Bart is too. What a shame. In the first fight Bart had him so choked out they could have stopped it. Chris made his way thru the ropes though to save his own ass.

  9. On another note, anyone see the IFL Grand Prix last night?

The Chris Horodecki/Bart Palaszewski fight was really the only good one IMO, but I would've given the fight to Palaszewski, you could tell that the crowd was upset that the judges gave it to Horodecki.

I had Horodecki winning round one for sure, Palaszewski dominating round 2 and Palaszewski taking round 3, by slight decision.

They gave another controversial decision to Horodecki? I though Bart beat Chris the first time they fought. Now they give Chris another one? Sheesh.

  10. in Dana's last interview, he called Fedor a "farce" and said he was NEVER top 5.

i usually let dana slide on most of his comments, but he is an idiot. i realize he's just trying to deflate Fedor's perceived impact, but his comments are just disrespectful. as the mouthpiece for the ufc he should have attempt to have some class and respect for fighters that fight for other organizations.

I can't imagine he really thinks that. Anyone with half an MMA brain knows Fedor is awesome and I'm sure Dana does too. I'm willing to bet he wants to inspire Fedor's anger so he'll come to the UFC with something to prove.

  12. Silva's knees to Franklins body led to the broken nose. Franklin lowered his arms to protect his ribs after being knee'd repeatedly, thats when Silva pulled down on his head and brought his knee up to break his nose. Silva's body attack on franklin is what killed him more than anything in my opinion.

Yeah, I remember that now. Franklin better have learned some Muay Thai clinch defense or he's in for a very short night again. :)

  13. I just think that the kind of domination shown by Spider over Rich the last time they fought is not going to be easily overcome by Franklin this time. I'm sure it will be a closer fight because Rich will make himself harder to catch, but once they start to mix it up, this fight will start to look a lot like the first.

I was amazed at how easily Silva overpowered and outclassed him. Perhaps it was the broken nose. I'm not sure at this point if that happened before or after Franklin went down. If the nose was what did Rich in last time, maybe he'll do much better this time. I just doubt it.

  14. Silva doesn't take anyone lightly, since winning he's been respectful and classy to all of his opponents. He knows that Rich is a good fighter and fighting in his hometown. Silva will come out looking to finish.

my predictions for the fight will after i see the weigh-ins.

a list of fighters Vera has faced and beaten:

    1. Frank Mir (shell of his former self when they fought)

    2. Assuerio Silva

    3. Justin Eilers

    4. Mike Whitehead

    5. Fabiano Scherner

    6. Andre Mussi

    7. Don Richard

    8. Adam Rivera

you say that Nog or Kongo shouldn't get a shot at the title, yet you say Vera has an impressive string of victories. Vera hasn't fought in a long time, and he still hasn't faced anybody remotely close to the top 10. I like Vera, but he doesn't deserve a shot over Nog at this point. Once he starts to beat people who are actually ranked, then give him the shot (which i expect him to do).

Solid point, but my logic comes from the observation that at least Brandon Vera has had a string of UFC victories at all. Minotauro has 1 UFC fight under his belt and he had to come back from la-la land to squeeze that one win. I say Vera is more deserving than Nog, but let's say for the sake of analysis that you and I are both wrong. Should we endure another Sylvia-Arlovski fight? Should we throw Cro Cop another bone when he's clearly undeserving?

Wow, Randy really threw a monkey wrench in the UFC HW picture. Perhaps the Sylvia-Vera fight will produce one contender and an Arlovski-Nog fight would produce another. I just don't see where Kongo can fit in at this early stage in his development.

  15. So, it looks like the Kongo-Nog fight is off.

Nog gets the winner of Sylvia-Vera probably at Super Bowl weekend for the vacant title.

    Thanks, Sebowski..

IMO, Neither Kongo or Minotauro has earned a title shot yet. Kongo should have to fight someone better than Assuerio Sylva and a greatly-reduced Cro Cop. Big Nog looked un-champlike against Herring.

Sylvia v. Vera should be the title match. Tim just lost the belt to Couture and didn't get a rematch. Vera has had a most impressive string of wins and deserves it more than Nog.
