  1. I disagree completely. You need QBs and Mariota stinks having Rattler in place on a rookie deal would be good business. Mariota can kick rocks after this year.
  2. He's a linebacker. Named Jordan. Played at Temple.
  3. Christian Jones Spencer Rattler Audric Estime Those are the two guys I'd like but at this point it's kind of a shoulder shrug and "we'll see" regardless.
  4. There goes my dream of a two Punter formation. Damnit.
  5. Christian Jones is still my top available target. I don’t think there’s a chance he falls to us, though. Stover. Estime. Allen. Lots of talent available. I’m half paying attention… Trotter Jr is still out there too, isn’t he?
  6. I wouldn’t be surprised to see us trying to move up to an earlier pick today and perhaps give up most of our picks to do so.
  7. Sure we do. I choose to trust his vision because I see he has a plan and he’s executing it. I don’t agree with every move but I see his goal and now he’s working towards it and I respect the hell out of it. Doesnt mean we have to believe in his every individual move. I believe in his mission. Don’t believe in every move without question like so many imply we have to. It’s okay to ask questions or not understand. But, there are a lot of people who trust him without doing any research themselves and don’t think anyone should have varying points of view. To the contrary, though, there are also some here who distrust everything he does because of the past which is just as ridiculous. Peters is doing great, imo. But it’s okay to discuss.
  8. Yet, ES always has posters who are right when GMs are wrong. Law of percentages and total number of possibilities. That isn’t saying anyone here is more qualified than Peters. But… sometimes people here are right. Whether it’s because we know **** or are lucky? That’s open to interpretation. But… And for what it’s worth… if you’re just going to back Peters moves without any real thought on your end, why come to a community forum to discuss? That’s what we’re doing here. Discussing. Saying “I trust Peters” is fine. But not everyone trusts his every move and that’s fine too.
  9. I think most of us knew our QB was going to be in trouble when the season ended. No matter who the GM/HC were. Our OL was abysmal. There is no way to fix that in an off-season in any meaningful way, especially when you are taking a QB early in the first round. Just the way things fell. Our OL issues fall on Rivera’s feet. The OL is already “better” but that’s not saying much. But let’s see what happens. And while I didn’t agree with the sentiment, this is the reason many advocated moving back from 2. Trade back, grab a QB that’s left on the board and get OT help. That was the logic. But when you can swing on a potential superstar QB, you have to swing.
  10. Please don’t caveat that Peter’s knows more than you. You are entitled to an opinion. You may be called to defend the opinion, but you don’t have to be Adam Peters to have an opinion. And, quite frankly, the blind trust in ANY regime to never make a single mistake is actually hurtful to the mission. Peters is going to **** up. Every human in a GM role does. That does NOT mean he isn’t and won’t be doing an excellent job. This team, at least on paper, is very much improved. I think he’s doing great. But I do question some of the decisions he made… and guess what? That’s okay. Let’s get away from the “Peters knows best!” Stuff. That sets expectations so high that the guy could literally turn us around but then make one mistake and a portion of this fanbase will turn. RE: OT - yes. I think we are aligned. The draft just didn’t fall that way. But Christian Jones is still there and I like him. Maybe he’s a candidate.
  11. Wait… JZNewt was a reach? On what planet? He had absolute first round ability but fell due to the run on QBs, OTs and WRs. In most draft classes he’s a first rounder. How is taking a first round talent in the second round a reach? Isnt that the definition of value?
  12. I know Forbes is scary, but he’s got a full year on a NFL roster and on a NFL nutrition plan. If he added any weight and gets some better coaching he may wind up living up to the hype. Of course, he also may show to be a bust. Who knows. But let’s see what happens there. We need outside corner help, not just because of Forbes but because St Juste gets in these weird rhythms where he holds on every play and then other times he looks like a legit shut down player. We need an outside corner bar. But we have three slot corners now. So there’s that.
  13. Sainistril isn’t an outside corner. Why do you think he’s playing outside?
  14. Because he wasn’t that good. I don’t think he’s dropping. I think we’re coming into the range he should have been selected. Great flashes, but the play to play left something to be desired.
  15. I don’t understand this mentality. What high end OT did you guys want us to take? Was Patrick Paul a 100%, can’t miss, have to take him prospect to you? There weren’t any available to us and trading up would have been costly on a team that is, quite frankly, rebuilding. I agree we need to find a way to get OT help in FA (and if we can somehow get Christian Jones he could be a day one starter for us). They need to address it. But the draft isn’t the place, really, and the OT FA market was wild.
  16. Big time disagree here. Kool Aid and Dejean were in our laps. Would they shut the Eagles receivers down? Of course not. But they would make them work for it.
  17. Uh, no we don’t. Forbes weighs like 37 pounds, agreed. But St Juste is 200+
  18. As I posted above, I just saw this post. Great post and I agree.
  19. Why are people harping on JZNewt being a “rotational” player? DTs rotate a lot in the NFL. I know we aren’t used to that because Allen and Payne play a high % of snaps, but that’s not normal. And that’s not accounting for any injury time, either. It’s feasible that we may also employ more odd fronts, which can utilize all three of them in an end-nose-end alignment, too. They are the perfect grouping for that alignment. And maybe Mathis, if he plays, can take some reps at nose. There is no reason to worry about him being rotational. If he’s as good as he looked in college he’ll see plenty of snaps. And that’ll keep Payne and Allen fresh and not on roller skates because they’re exhausted.
  20. So my overall thoughts so far: Our picks: Daniels: Big upside, small frame. His biggest obstacle will be a stiff wind. But this guy can play. JZNewt: Absolute stud. I think we will employ a 7-1-3 defense Sainistril: Love the player. Bit of a logjam at the nickel spot with inSain, Quan, Davis. Not much on the outside. BPA is BPA. He's short. But he's a hell of a football player. I have retired the term ballhawk after Forbes. Sinnott: Just a whole lot of yes. He's our Juczchyk or however you spell the H from SF's name. Except he's also a true Y. 100% yes. May be my favorite pick. Coleman: Shouldn't be a starter for us... but given this team's tackle situation... He may actually start for us. Promising prospect in a good spot in the draft. We'll see. McCaffrey: @Jumbo said, "A New Hope" last night in the draft thread, which I didn't laugh react to because I was half asleep. But young Skywalker is going to be a major help to our receiving corps. Overall Thoughts on the Class We've helped Daniels in many ways. I have really apprehensive about our OL. Our LT is below average and our RT is essentially an open space on the field. We'll see how LG pans out. C and RG are all set. You can't force picks, though. So I'm glad we didn't reach on these guys. What I Hated: No one will ever convince me that trading Dejean, one of the top corners and the best returnman in the draft (the new special teams rules are going to put a MAJOR emphasis on the return game. It won't be all touchbacks anymore. There are going to be more returns, which means more need for an explosive returner) was a good play. I know what we got. And I like the players we got. But trading with Philadelphia and giving them Dejean is a move that I absolutely despise. I also hate that Beebe is in Dallas. Not going to be a good situation for us. He will likely start day one for them at LG. Today: I think we can go any direction. It's clear we're going BPA. Some interesting names: Christian Jones, OT, Texas - He has tremendous upside and athletic for a big man. But he's "just" 305 and needs some development. Mohamed Kamara, DE, Colorado St Troy Franklin, WR, Oregon - I actually think he is one of the better receiving prospects in the draft. 4.41 speed but moves smoothly through his patterns and was reliable as all hell. TJ Tampa, CB, Iowa State - He's not my favorite player, I know others were really high on him though. And at this point I think he's just as good of a guess as any other player we could select. And we desperately need help at outside corner and he fits in the BPA mold. Spencer Rattler, QB, South Carolina - Oh ****. Yes. I put Rattler. I like Rattler. He definitely has a lot to work on from a consistency basis. But... I really, really don't like Marcus Mariota. So even if we have to keep him for the year, I wouldn't be upset with a plan to start JD, Mariota is the backup and develop Rattler from a mechanical perspective and then next year move on from Mariota. This isn't likely. But I'd like it. And no - this wouldn't be to challenge JD5. He's the QB. Will Shipley, RB, Clemson - Others were higher on him than I was, but we're creeping into value territory. Sedrick Van Pran, C, Georgia - Only downside here is he is a pure center. Jeremiah Trotter, LB, Clemson - Another guy I didn't love when I watched as a high end prospect. But I like him a lot more down here. He flashes, so he needs to be more consistent but again: this is the range. Cade Stover, TE, Ohio State - Raw, but this guy can do it all. I'd take him as a pure Y without any hesitation. Ertz won't be here long. Cedric Gray, LB, North Carolina - I like him better than Trotter. Not sure his ceiling is as high, but I think his growth potential is higher. (IE I don't think Trotter hits his ceiling, Gray may). Audric Estime, RB, Notre Dame & Braelen Allen, RB, Wisconsin - We have BRob, CRob and Ekeler. But... these dudes are straight war horses. I'd take them on my team in a heartbeat.
  21. He’s going to be in the H role. People who love tight ends and fullbacks are going to love him. Good receiver, great blocker. He’s going to be our Juczcheck (I have no idea how to spell the H from SF’s name)
  22. People keep saying he’s not a day 1 starter, and I agree for the most part. He needs technique work and linemen are the ones who most often need to marinade a bit (and true Y tight ends). However… We have Lucas and Wylie at tackle. He could be a day one starter here. Which isn’t ideal.
  23. Love the player. Interesting to see how he’ll be utilized. He has to play in the slot. At 5-8 he’s going to get roasted on the outside, though I’m sure he could do it once in awhile. Great talent. But as with a lot of our picks size is the concern. I’m really optimistic here, though. But this leaves Forbes and Juice as our corners…
