People make all kinds of excuses for young players, but the ballers typically play well from the start and the vets acknowledge it. Happened with Terry, happened with Sean Taylor etc. Looks like it’s happening with Jayden. We might finally have a QB!

Tried to tell you! Jump on in, the water is fine! 😆 It is still very, very early I know and he hasn't proved anything at this level (yet), but it's all there for him to be elite. We have some fun years ahead of us.

Also, I just saw an article that Lamar is shedding some weight to be more like Jayden...😆

finish the year very strong and on a roll headed into the playoffs. Franchise QBs can turn around a team pretty quickly and I think a lot of the pieces are in place to succeed year one. Oline and secondary are still a major concern but hopefully the Michigan DB is our honey badger and creates a lot of short fields with timely turnovers.

I think I’ve got the Bears game knocked down to Week 3, Week 7, or Week 14.

and week 14 is likely out because the league wants this match up before everyone figures out Caleb is a fraud.

Whoops was wrong but week 8 is legit. Got Bears confused with Bengals.

Ok so I guess Bengals are week 3, week 5, or week 12. Can’t keep up! man if it’s Bengals week 3, that’s a tough start to the season with 3 road games the first 4.

  4. Eyeing 3 games right now. Opener at Tampa, at Cincy to watch my Heisman QBs face off, and the Bears game to watch JD5 outshine Caleb. Haven’t been this excited for a season since 2000.

Also highly recommend making the NOLA trip to anyone that hasn’t caught a NFL game there yet. It’s a giant party. You’ll love it. Saints fans egos are finally coming back down to earth. They were miserable to deal with for a while there haha.

What a banner day for DooDoo Brain Daniels - front page of ESPN for entering into, what was at minimum a questionable wager (spoiler alert -- neither of them are going to win it, you CAN bet on that) and then pressures the team MVP for the last several seasons into giving up his jersey number.  Reeks of the entitlement we all saw coming - not a good start.  So far Daniels Disparagers 1, Jayden Joyfuls 0.

Yep, absolute franchise killer move. Quinn has lost control of the team already. Mariota is the clear #1 in the locker room and JD won’t be able to recover from this. :(

Anthony Richardson is an insane physical specimen and is very young. He played 4 games and, while running, suffered both a concussion and a separated shoulder, which ended his season. He's also 35lbs bigger than Daniels.

Anthony also looks to use his size and initiate contact to get an extra yard or two while JD is a lot more elusive and doesn’t try to be some power back. He’s also a much better passer than Anthony and I doubt he will have to rely on his legs as much as Anthony does.

  7. JD5 took the critiques from the LSU coaching staff, most notably from Sloan (QB whisperer-watch what he does with Nuss this season) and put in the work and clearly it paid off. I believe he will listen to the coaches on learning to protect himself better instead of trying to be the hero as often as he did at LSU. He is extremely coachable and is going to do whatever he can to try and be the best out there. The work ethic is unbelievable with this kid. And just to echo what’s already been said here, the only concern I have is the ability to stay healthy but that can go for any player out there. If he remains fairly healthy, we finally have our franchise QB for the next 10-12 seasons. Obviously a lot of players can say all the right things and then don’t back it up, but that isn’t the case with Jayden. He drove a lot of us crazy at LSU his first season because he wasn’t trusting his receivers and would just pull it down and run a lot more often than he should have. You saw glimpses of his passing ability against Florida in the swamp and everyone was thinking where has that Jayden been? If he puts that together he’s a first round pick  well sure enough, he did.

here is a good article summarizing his first season at LSU

If we accidentally made that field goal against the Jets last year - a game I turned off early because I was disgusted we were going to win - we would be welcoming JJ McCarthy right now. It seems like Peters' board was probably QB1) Jayden, QB2) Caleb, QB3) JJ.

I'm getting fired up but still can't help but feel nobody has really pressed into his durability beyond hand-waving about big hits. I'd be curious for Keim to speak to a sports science expert or sports doctor and ask some of those questions. Cooley felt that his build was not a concern and that his frame could accommodate 5-10 pounds of additional muscle over time no problem. It seems hard to believe looking at how skinny he is, but maybe it's the truth. I just wish we could hear from a true expert in the field.

Again, if Jayden looked 10 pounds beefier and were anywhere close to as fast as he is now, he'd be a Chicago Bear and we'd be welcoming Caleb to DC right now. I'm not as concerned with his throws between the hashes or sack rate. I was never worried about his work ethic.

That Jets game last season was a nightmare. I’ve never wanted a loss so bad  it would’ve royally screwed us.

If I had to make a non-homer wager on which rookie qb I think will have the best first season I'd go with McCarthy:

    1. Offensive minded coach who has reputation of being a qb whisperer.

    2. Great receiving corps,  including best wr in league (imho).

    3. Solid o-line

    4. Doesn't need to play the hero to win games

I don’t think JJ will even be the starter week 1.
