SkinsGuy
From: http://nfl.kffl.com Redskins | Lott of Options - posted at KFFL 6:32 PT: Redskins.com reports the Washington Redskins rookie DB Andre Lott is proving to be a strong presence in the defensive secondary. During the controlled drills Lott demonstrated quickness and a nose for the football. His versatility allows Lott to play either corner or free safety if needed. Sounds good. You rarely hear such high praise for a rookie. I wonder if he'll have a chance to crack the starting line-up or if that is already set. OrangeSkin
A starting safety tandem of Ohalate and Lott sounds appealing for next year.
Golgo-13
Man would that ever save us a few cap dollars. Hopefully he and Ohalate (sp???) are making Shade and Terrell work for their money.
bulldog
you won't see two rookies or near rookies starting in the secondary, that would be suicide. but it is REALLY about time that the team got serious about developing some depth at the position. it is good to see Lewis talking about getting Ohalete and some others time in camp and the preseason to show what they can do. we haven't had a truly solid two-way safety since 1991. SkinsGuy
Hey Orangeskin, It sounds appealing to me too. Not that I have anything against Shade or Terrell. They're good players, but I'd like to see some of this hard-hitting young blood make it into the line up. Skins Guy :high:
@DCGoldPants
This is from Redskins.com so we take all good news with a grain of salt.
SkinsGuy
Hey escholz, Yep, having two young guys playing well in practice may get Shade and Terrell looking over thier shoulder. In which case they will work harder to retain thier starting positions. Skins Guy :high:
SkinsGuy
Hi bulldog, Oh no, I wouldn't start both of them right off like that. That would be crazy. But I do hope they get playing time if they keep progressing. Maybe in nickel and dime packages. Yes, it s about time that this team developed its own players instead of bringing in cast-offs and retreads from other teams. Hopefully, Spurrier will bring that mentality to this team (and that Synder will have the patience ) Skins Guy :high:
NavyDave
How tall is Lott? If Ohalete can be a part of the rotation this year then hopefully that means a cap saving move in June 2k3 on Shade to offset the extension and Franchising of Jansen and Champ respectively. redman
What Bufford said. And BTW, all the drills have been non-contact so far. How TF can you really tell what a safety can do at this point?
