Nerm Posted January 5, 2005 Share Posted January 5, 2005 I need to buy a radar/laser detector for someone as a gift. I guess it needs to be able to detect both radar and lasers. I was wondering if anyone has any tips on good brands or where to look. Are there any good websites that compare them? What are the best websites that sell electronics or can tell you where to look for the best prices? Do these things even work? Any feedback would be appreciated. skinsfan93 Posted January 5, 2005 Share Posted January 5, 2005 Do a google search on radar detectors and you will find some sites that do reviews. These do work and are good investments. My personal opinion is if you are going to buy one, buy the best one. These will give you at least a half mile to slow down. My personal favorite is the Escort Cordless. That's what I thought, but people buy the things, so I don't get it. Most high end ones seem to detect everything anyways, so I guess I'll be getting the laser detection. Fifty Gut Posted January 6, 2005 Share Posted January 6, 2005 I used to have one, I forgot which one, but it was like $100, worked perfectly. But I started becoming too ****y on the road with it and would get caught still (would get paced by a cop or would just draw too much attention to myself on the road). Then one day I was pulled over and the cop said "hand it over" (although it was suppost to be hidden from radar detector detectors).
