OT - A Couple of B-ball thoughts.

Wilcox is in the draft. sux for Maryland, good for the Wiz in that it increases the likelihood of a decent player dropping to their probaby #11 spot.

There are two players that would fit perfectly with the Wiz. One is Jason Williams (even though he's overrated), who we won't get. The other guy, and this is who we REALLY want, is Carron Butler. He's a legitimate high-impact SF, which is what this team needs. We don't need all of those 4s and 2s out there. So we get Carron, and then we cut a trade for Andre Miller. Miller is apparently available for a trade, as the Cavs dont think they will be able to afford him. I'd trade Courtney Alexander and someone else, or a #1 pick in 2k3 for Andre Miller.

This would fill us out at every single position on the floor. I guarantee you that would be a playoff team, especially with the growth in players like Etan and Kwame.

Oh yeah. We're not going to be in position to get Yao Ming unless some really weird stuff happens, and we have players to play the 5 spot. However, we could make it work.

Apr. 22 - The Shanghai Sharks announced Saturday that they will release Yao Ming to the NBA, but they still have major concerns about the team that drafts him. Right now, the team will only consider letting Ming go to the NBA if he plays in a major market in a city that has a large Asian-American community. Sources tell Insider that the list is already narrowed to four teams: the Knicks, Bulls, Wizards and Warriors. All four teams have shown major interest in Yao. In fact, if the Bulls or Knicks were to get the No. 1 pick in the draft, Yao would likely go No. 1.

On the odd chance something like this happens, we trade Jahidi and Courtney for Andre Miller.

Guys, let me tell you how the draft is going to go.

Jordan will meet with Stern at some point prior to the draft. Stern will thank him for everything and tell him he understands if he retires for good this time. Then, he'll say, "But, between the two of us, if you don't retire, you'll get the top pick of the draft again."

The NBA is and always has been rigged. There's just no way Jordan's return next year won't mean the Bullets get the top pick again. Keep this thread in the back of your mind when we call Jason Williams up first :).

Oh yah..the actual Andre Miller rumor from ESPN Insider.

Apr. 18 - Andre Miller wants a six-year, $84 million extension this summer. The Cavs would prefer to wait a year to free up more cap room. Even then, they're not so sure Miller is worth the money. Both sides seem headed for a showdown this summer, leading to the ultimate question -- if the Cavs don't come to the table with a big contract early, will Miller even consider re-signing with them next summer? If Miller were playing on a bigger stage, say in New York or D.C., he'd be a much bigger star. Blowing him off for a year may be all the ammunition Miller needs to decide that he'll wait another year and then become an unrestricted free agent. The Cavs know that's a risk and that's while they'll be listening at offers for Miller this summer. The line of suitors will be wrapped around Gund Arena.

In case you are curious, he averaged 16.5 points and 10.9 assists last year on a crappy team.
