It's more like parody in NFC Nov. 15, 2004 By Clark Judge SportsLine.com Senior Writer 5. You have to believe that 17-10 defeat of Washington was gratifying for Cincinnati coach Marvin Lewis, and not just because it marked the first time under quarterback Carson Palmer that the Bengals won consecutive games. No, it came at the expense of a club that could've hired Lewis as a head coach -- not once but twice - but instead passed him over for Marty Schottenheimer and Steve Spurrier. 8. Congratulations to the Washington Redskins for keeping one of football's most elusive streaks alive. Washington hasn't scored more than 18 points in any game this year and is closing in on a mark held by the 1992 Seattle Seahawks -- the only team in the last 25 years to go an entire year without scoring at least 20 points in a game. Say it ain't so, Joe. My top five 1. Pittsburgh ... Big Ben strikes seven 2. New England ... Brady Bunch tops Nielsens 3. Philadelphia ... About to mess with Texas 4. San Diego ... It's win, lose or Drew 5. Atlanta ... "Mora, Mora, Mora" tops video sales My bottom five 1. San Francisco ... "Monster" in S.F. isn't the stadium 2. Miami ... Bye has new meaning for Wannstedt 3. Carolina ... Fifteen more vs. SF and they tie '72 Fins 4. Tennessee ... Vanderbilt next on schedule 5. Joe Gibbs ... D.C. considers recall vote
bulldog
Carolina is 2-7, the 49ers are in the toilet and the supposedly contending Titans are 3-6, and yet they have nothing better to do than rag on Joe Gibbs?
harriet
Rediculous. This team could be in the playoff hunt had Ramsey been starting from day one. This is now a different team with Patrick and McCants in the lineup. bottom 5 applied up until now.
bubba9497
it came at the expense of a club that could've hired Lewis as a head coach Geez what teams couldn't have hired Lewis in the past 5 years??? another "sportswriter" making a gross exaggeration, to try and tweak the Skins some more. Being Swarmy is "in" this season (but being accurate still is on the "outs" )

Tony K made a similar comment the other day on his "new" radio show about how the media is seeming taking a pounding on Washington and Gibbs. Pointing out that on ESPN Sean "Frozen Dinner" Salisbury pick the Redskins as the biggest disappointment of the first half??? Wouldn't teams like KC that was 13-3 last season qualify over the Skins? Maybe Carolina after a Super Bowl run. Some one else had the Bengals vs Skins as the mediocre game of the week. Wouldn't the 19 Panthers Vs 1-9 49ers qualify better for that title? Another writer was saying the Skins were the biggest disappointment because many (he) thought the Skins were a playoff team this season.... HELLO... they were 5-11 last season, and hired a new coaching staff. Even though there was a lot of hype because Gibbs was back, there was also a lot of false expectations that in hind sight were not realistic, and based on emotion. Instead of getting credit for having a stellar defense after being so bad last season.... all we get is jeers about the offesnse and classless barbs about Gibbs. The Skins are the whipping boy of the NFL's so called "experts".

Craig
You guys have to expect that the Redskins are going to take a pounding from the national media since the Redskins under Gibbs have stumbled so badly. Nobody complained at all the positive media received before the season began because of Gibbs return.
