@DCGoldPants
If we go the route of Vet, I was thinking this morning that there are only 3 QB's I would be really happy (there are others who I don't list because its so unlikely) Jeff Blake Trent Dilfer Ray Lucas just wanted to share. I would trade a 2nd round pick for Blake.
bulldog
with his contract being as large as it is and being 32 years old, I think you could get Blake cheaper than a #2 from New Orleans. I think Dilfer fits the Redskins personnel better than Blake does right now and he definitely seems a better fit with Marty's own personality. Lucas is a wildcard. He is a talented athlete and a guy that Bill Parcells really fell in love with. Whether he is ever going to find a home where he can relax and get some game experience as the starter without all the instability and shuffling he has experienced in NY and Miami is a question mark. If the 49ers did not have Jeff Garcia I might think Walsh and Mariucci might take a flyer on Lucas. Other offensive minds that might would be Sherman and the Packers as well as Shanahan in Denver. Favre will be 33 in the offseason and the Packers need to bring in a #2 that can step in and play at a high level. They traded Aaron Brooks and Matt Hasselbeck and only have Pederson in reserve, who is a caretaker nothing more. I just don't see Lucas in a Redskins uniform playing for Marty Schottenheimer. @DCGoldPants
I think if the Skins could trade for Blake or whoever, the 1st move would be to restructure their contract. I think Dilfer is a Marty guy also. However, I think Blake is also popular with the players and is talented. I would take both....AND Lucas. ------------------
Dirk Diggler
Lucas reminds me a lot of Jeff Garcia. I wouldn't mind seeing him here (is his contract up?) but I don't see us taking a chance on a "wild card" at QB.
Guest B&G
Bufford, even if you were being facetious, I really like your idea about picking up both Dilfer and Blake. Both could be had for less than we would have to pay for Bledsoe. Acquiring both would allow us to send Sage to NFLE and pick up Leftwich, Harrington or Davey to learn our system. I really think this is the way to go.
@DCGoldPants
no, I was being serious. More than Brunell or Bledsoe, I want those guys. The only other Pro's I'd want are starters elsewhere. ------------------
OrangeSkin
If we signed both Blake and Dilfer, then we would have a quarterback controversy on our hands, without a doubt. I'd rather just sign one, start one, and then rely on Sage as a sufficient backup.
indyskinsfan
I think Sage is going to get some strong looks and have to contend with Graham. I believe Marty likes Graham more than he's letting on. In the forefront of this mess, IS Dilfer. All eyes, I know mine will , will be on Dilfer against Kansas City in a last game of the season nail biter. Seattle MUST win to make the playoffs or flush it for tanking. Dilfer's hairline to his cleat marks will be raked over with a fine tooth comb. Of course we shouldn't expect any Grosman like passing in the game, but see how he handles the rush, the outlets, the progression and reads the defense with a sense of urgency. Watch to see if he challenges disguised zones type coverages or forces into windows that aren't really there. Watch his feet as a DL or LB nears his "comfort zone", watch his demeanor when the offense is thwarted again and again, but not because of him, but because the defense is just having a solid game against him (will he get flustered in this one or will he suck it up and pick apart the 5-7 yarders, while chewing up the clock, constantly feeding the run). Will the receivers be led in good areas to advance the ball or cover up in a crowd or, will they be beheaded as they touch it or watch an INT go for a TD. How does rollout and throw the square out? For this and more, catch the Kansas City vs. Seattle game (hopefully on CBS)! [ by indyskinsfan on January 04, 2002.]
