This letter was written when marty was the head coach and the skins had gone 0-5. She really loves the Redskins. Hail to the Redskins. kappaluvacee Posted April 16, 2004 Share Posted April 16, 2004 The letter was good reading, but I think what Joe and Danny are stating publicly is really different than what actually happened when Gibbs returned. I think Snyder was 100% behind Spurrier even though he was losing faith in his coaching ability. I think he heard that Joe was talking to the falcons about returning to coaching and Snyder made the recruiting push that no man can refuse, especially Joe Gibbs. Snyder appealed to the very things Joe that Joe holds dear, winning, treating people in the christian way, and returning to his coaching love where he was so successful. We all make fun of spurrier, but one quality we have to admit he had was the fact that he said what he felt. He made a statment that I think was very telling. When Joe returned and Spurrier became an after thought, he state "I hope the fans in DC will some day thank me for allowing this to happen" while he was spotted in an airport by a reporter. Usually the more you hear about somebody the more it strips away from their image....you see the faults...you notice they aren't all you think they are.... I'll tell you, I've never known anything like Joe Gibbs. Humble in greatness..and geniue...every time you hear something new about him...it only adds to your respect for him.
