bulldog Posted January 6, 2004 Share Posted January 6, 2004 honest summation: 1. developing young qb with promise. 2. little in the backfield that is proven. 3. poor tight ends that need to be replaced. 4. offensive line has 3 performers in Thomas, Samuels and Jansen. Dockery played well the last 6 weeks. Fiore may not come back. the centers are forgettable. 5. kicker is fine. 6. kick returner is fine. 7. punter needs to be replaced. 8. defensive line is a complete wash except for Wynn. 9. Arrington is here to stay with his contract. Hopefully the next DC can get him to play under control. Armstead is 33 but coming off his best season in 3 or 4 years. Trotter is a disappointment for $7 million bonus at MLB. 10. Safeties are nothing to write home about. Bowen is tolerable. Ohalete is a guy we could stand to upgrade. 11. Starting corners were hurt in 2003 and didn't play as well as in 2002. If Bailey returns he and Smoot are fine. The team needs a #3 corner to back up. Bauman is injury prone and Jimoh is a developmental player who should never have been on the field in critical times in 2003. 12. And last but not least, wide receiver. Coles is a franchise player. McCants has his moments. Gardner is still hit or miss as a 3rd year vet. Time is running out on his inconsistency. He still takes too many stupid penalties for my liking. Offensive pass interference, holding, illegal motion, etc.. We could use a veteran receiver like Ricky Proehl here to complement Coles playmaking ability and provide a dependable pair of hands. Art Posted January 6, 2004 Share Posted January 6, 2004 We won't know if this will happen or not, but if Joe Gibbs returned to this team tomorrow and we made no roster changes at all, and we finished 11-5, would we have suddenly gotten more talented?
