hail2skins
The day John Lennon died: Jimmy Breslin writes iconic tale of NYPD cops who drove the dying Beatles star to the hospital - New York Daily News (nydailynews.com) Its been 40 years since the tragedy which took Lennon's life at 40 years of age. I was 12 in 1979 and really got into the Beatles courtesy of my stepfather's albums. Like the cop in the story, I saw "Beatlemania" at some point in 1979-80 and remember right after the show telling my stepdad, "someday I'm going to see the real McCoy live," meaning John, Paul, George, and Ringo will someday reunite. And when "Double Fantasy" was released in October 1980, I was pretty excited about the effort John had put out after a five-year hiatus after Sean was born. I wasn't watching MNF when Cosell made the announcement, but rather heard the news on the radio when I woke up for school the next morning. Just devastating. LadySkinsFan
I was 29 when Lennon was killed. It was devastating as I grew up with The Beatles and loved John Lennon's music. Imagine is my favorite song.
