Is there a leak in the upper part of "our" organization??<br /><br />The Washington Redskins are leaning strongly toward retaining Marco Coleman if the veteran defensive end agrees to renegotiate his contract, NFL sources said yesterday. Art Posted March 29, 2002 Share Posted March 29, 2002 NFL sources are, by definition, anyone not a team source and who has anything to do with the NFL. It could be a writer from Green Bay. It could be Art Modell sniping at Snyder. What we know about the Redskins under Snyder is that upper management is very tight. Very little hits the rumor mill from team sources unless it's well planted or planted as misdirection.<br /><br />NFL sources, now, are another animal. An NFL source can be a retired cap expert who sees what Coleman is making and "concludes" the Redskins will look at Coleman as a salary cap cut after June 1. Then, a former GM says, sure, given that cap number that could happen, but, a player like Marco, the leader he is and all, if the team can get him to renegotiate, they'll keep him.<br /><br />We've seen what "team" sources have said about Marco Coleman. In the Wynn article team sources were said to indicate that the signing of Wynn doesn't mean the end of Coleman. Essentially you sould take NFL sources and Miss Cleo in the same line of thinking.
