After one play LaVar asked running back Ricky Williams if "the real Ricky Williams would stand up." Well, LaVar, on this special day called Thanksgiving, let us start by giving thanks to you first. Thanks for going out of your way to taunt Mr. Williams. He did "stand up" and score two touchdowns on your defense in the fourth quarter as his offense beat down your defense in a 24-23 victory. Let us give thanks to backup QB Tim Hasselback. He made me realize that Patrick Ramsey really does hold on to the ball too long. Let us give thanks to the offensive line. They really can block -- but only for a backup quarterback. At least now we know they can block! Let's give thanks to Bruce Smith. He was hand-delivered a gift half-sack to tie Reggie White for most sacks in the NFL. We hope that by Christmas he'll get another gift and go on his way. Let's give thanks to Steve Spurrier. He called his best game since his college days in Florida. Yet he still can't get any points off turnovers. If his team could score off turnovers we would be giving thanks to yet another Redskins victory. Bah, humbug! Let us give semi-thanks to Chris Samuels for getting beat once again and finally getting Patrick Ramsey knocked out of the game. Patrick needs some rest. Let us give thanks to Joe Theismann for stating that Samuels "should be embarrassed" for his effort on national television. Let us give thanks to Dan Snyder for overpaying Jeremiah Trotter, Renaldo Wynn, Regan Upshaw, Chad Morton and Steve Spurrier. At least it keeps people wanting to play here. Let us give thanks to Stephen Davis. Even though his Panthers lost to the Cowboys Sunday, the former Redskin is happy and set a Panthers record for rushing. Let us give thanks to Trung Canidate. Trung was signed to be the feature running back after they dumped Davis. Trung really tries hard and it shows as he averages right around two yards per carry. Let us give thanks to the defense. They can create some turnovers now. But if they can't get the ball in the end zone then nobody will. Let us give thanks to the young coaching staff of the Redskins. They have almost got a full year under their belt. Let us give thanks to Ken Helton, the offensive line coach. If you're hungry this Thanksgiving he may be the biggest turkey of all. (Chris Samuels would like to give thanks to Ken Helton for being the biggest turkey of all.) Let us give thanks to the Redskins' 4-7 record, because if they keep losing they should have an easy schedule next year. Let's give thanks to offensive coordinator Hue Jackson for the enthusiasm he brings down to the sideline. Let's give thanks to Champ Bailey for five wonderful years in Washington. Let's give thanks to former Redskin defensive coordinator Marvin Lewis, a man who nearly had to beg to be a head coach. He is now getting it done with class in Cincinnati. Amazing! Let us give thanks to Mr. Snyder once again. Maybe his pervasive nature, which brought us Steve Spurrier, may one day pay off. Let us give thanks to other things besides Redskins football. Thanks to the troops in fighting for our freedom. And thanks to our families. Marshall's Andy Gilliam covers the Redskins for the Times-Democrat. bubba9497
Yawn :snore: These swarmy bash articles are becoming older than last weeks day old bread. The feeble attempt at humor is pathetic, and stale. Most of his points, are at best over exposed, and worst inaccurate. (The losing schedule is history dude). "Let us give semi-thanks to Chris Samuels for getting beat once again and finally getting Patrick Ramsey knocked out of the game. Patrick needs some rest. " even if he was trying for a compliment..... tasteless
