freakofthesouth
This may be an explanation for o-line problems...look who they are practicing with! I remember Champ talking about practicing on a reciever like Coles, and how challenging it was....it was a wonderful thing to be able to have such competition within the team. It forced him to step-up his game. Now...w/ all of the talent on the o-line, they may very well be suffering in games from practicing w/ the skins' d-line. It's not like the d-line is horrible. They're just not anything particularly special. This may cause a little complacency in practice, thus limiting the play and potential of our o-line. 'But Freak, what about all the penalties? What about Helton and his coaching?' It may just be a lack of concentration which could possibly be somehow related to this. OK, so on the flip-side of this, Smoot has been playing better than last year. That pic he had against the Eagles was amazing...overall, although his play is not perfect, he has had a good season (hopefully, he can bounce back from his injury in a few weeks). Smoot's play could be attributed to covering receivers like Gardner and McCants on a regular basis...including the play of the safeties as well. Any thoughts? Mad Mike
No arguments here. Practicing against our weak D line can't be helping the O line prepare for good defensive teams.
