HailVictory
I still can't believe this guy was considered the hottest free agent receiver this offseason. I won't miss his attitude, lack of desire, or his butter fingers... Saints | Transition Not Smooth for Connell - Jeff Duncan, of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, reports for the Sporting News that New Orleans Saints WR Albert Connell has had a tough time adjusting to the Saints offense this off-season. He's made a few big plays, but has shown a tendency for dropping the ball in practice. Just as he was starting to turn things around, he suffered a hamstring injury during the final mini-camp
MikeB
Connell is a loser, plain and simple. This guy never gave 100%. Yeah, he had a good game or two, but don't most receivers? Whenever it counted and we needed a big catch, he was nowhere to be found. I don't wish the guy bad luck in NO, but at the same time if he stuggles and is mediocre it wouldn't bother (or surprise) me one bit. ------------------
Dirk Diggler
i wish him all the misfortune he deserves. Fu** AC and I can't wait till week 17 when Champ is lined up across from him.
Pete
Although I'm happy to see him go, he did have more then a few good games for the Skins. He and Westbrook had very similar numbers in 99.

MikeB
Hey Pete, what about 2000? For all the good he did in 99 (with Westbrook healthy), he sure did take away in 00 (with Westbrook out, when we REALLY needed him). ------------------
Brave
Redman - Well my jaw certainly dropped open. Those are top-notch stats for ANY WR to have over a two year period. With Connell's speed and confidence he can't miss in ... what's that you say? Four years?!!? Average at best.
redman
Connell's combined total stats for '99 and '00: 29 games 101 catches 50.1 catch/year 1894 yds 947 yds/yr 18.75 yds/catch 10 TD's 5/yr That's not top notch. The most you can say about it is that it's above average. Some receivers, notably Moss, easily score that many TD's in one season. The almost 19 yds/catch is impressive. But while 50 catches and 5 TD's is an OK average for a WR, the fact is that his numbers are weighted towards '99, when he was the #2 WR in the offense. Notably, these numbers don't include the times he was thrown at and failed to catch the ball. Needless to say, his brain farts and attitude problems aren't recorded here either. I still say good riddance. ------------------ "Loosen up, Sandy baby. NavyDave
I agree with Redman. Smoot or Darrel green will be covering A Connell if he isn t in the doghouse by then ------------------ Dave
Pete
Mike, my point was he gave us 1 season as a solid second man out. If he wasn't so subject to brain farts, he would have out done Westbrook in 99. As for 2000, he was never ment to be the # 1 guy. Without Westbrook to draw double teams, he had to deal with the better coverage, and also played dinged a bit, if memory serves me.I also think the change in QB had an effect on him. George hooked up better with Thrash, being he was his # 1 guy with the second team. They already had the timing down, which wasn’t there with Connell. Of course, lack of real soft hands didn’t help his case. People seems to be so enamored with Westbrook, yet his best season is only average, going by what I have read in this thread, being only slightly better then Connell in 99. Connell is a head case, no doubt in my mind about that, and again I’m glad to see him go for that reason alone.

Mickalino
Yea, AC went to the Wizard of OZ, and the Wiz told him he couldn't help him, cuz the Wiz didn't have all the many body parts that Connell needed......{If I only had a brain}.....
TennesseeCarl
I saw Connell make some truly spectacular receptions during his time with the Skins. The problem is that I also saw him drop some easy ones, fail to finish his routes and he consistently displayed a miserable attitude. Lack of talent is not AC's problem. AC is AC's problem.
