I heard these guys are college refs. Are the college games suffering too?

Not true, at least not high level. Apparently the last time there was a dispute with referees, they used D-1 college refs, but I guess contracts or whatever are precluding that. I think the referees now are from places like D-2 and D-3 college, and I heard that some of them has worked in the lingerie football league and other sideshows. They aren't just guys off the street, but it would be like taking a 14 year old who has umpired Little League for 2 - 3 years and making him work a competitive high school baseball game.

I know from refereeing soccer that if I do a U12 Girls rec game in the morning and a U16B travel game in the afternoon, it is really hard for me to get used to the speed of play difference, not to mention the goings-on away from the ball.
