ACW
idk why this guy doesn't just use his awesome European superpowers to enhance his USA experience.e.g. he goes to a restaurant: Frankness: "'ey love/guv', I just want to let you know that I think American tipping culture is RUBBISH and I'm not going to participate." (problem #4 solved) which means.. Waitress/waiter does not smile at you (#3), you get your food much more slowly and possibly with smaller portions (#s 14, 16), and are not regarded as "awesome" or "great" (#2). In fact, s/he might even call him an ******* (bonus points for getting American to be more straightforward). :ols:
HailGreen28
My wife's from N. Ireland and I now have lots of friends from there and from the Republic. This is not an unusual view of the States, and I agree with most of it myself. The sensitivity part is really ingrained - I still struggle with it all the time when she comes out with some brutally honest statement. It makes me defensive. But it's true. That's sad. Once dated a girl whose mother was Irish, and they were two of the most positive people I knew.
