IHOPSkins
....Obama asserts executive privilege on Fast and Furious documents.... The White House decision to invoke executive privilege implies that White House officials were either involved in the 'Fast and Furious' operation or the cover-up that followed. The Administration has always insisted that wasn't the case. Were they lying, or are they now bending the law to hide the truth?" Boehner spokesperson Michael Steel wrote in a statement.http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-57457296-503544/house-panel-finds-attorney-general-eric-holder-in-contempt/ ---------- Post added June-20th-2012 at 08:53 PM ---------- Terry family attorney Pat McGroder on Wednesday released the following statement from Terry’s parents Josephine Terry and Kent Terry Sr.: “Attorney General Eric Holder’s refusal to fully disclose the documents associated with Operation Fast and Furious and President Obama’s assertion of executive privilege serves to compound this tragedy. It denies the Terry family and the American people the truth.” http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/06/murdered-border-agents-family-says-president-obama-compounding-this-tragedy-with-executive-privilege-assertion/
@DCGoldPants
Fast And Furious Report: Justice Department At Fault In Gun-Trafficking Operation WASHINGTON -- The Justice Department's internal watchdog is faulting the agency for misguided strategies, errors in judgment and management failures during a bungled gun-trafficking probe in Arizona that resulted in hundreds of weapons turning up at crime scenes in the U.S. and Mexico. In a 471-page report, Inspector General Michael Horowitz referred over a dozen people for possible disciplinary action for their roles in Operation Fast and Furious. The report did not criticize Attorney General Eric Holder. The report found no evidence that Holder was informed about the operation before Jan. 31, 2011, or that the attorney general was told about the controversial gun-walking tactic employed by the department's Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. SnyderShrugged
Why would they allow the DOJ inspector General to investigate the boss of the DOJ? That seems like a huge potential conflict of interest.
The Evil Genius
Why would they allow the DOJ inspector General to investigate the boss of the DOJ? That seems like a huge potential conflict of interest. I suspect for the same reason that policemen are investigated by their own Internal Affairs divisions. It's one of the duties of the DOJ inspector General (with the exception that the DOJ attorneys are investigated by someone else).

IA wouldnt investigate the person they report to, they would have to assign someone more separate from them. The DOJ inspector general reports to the AG directly. Conflict of interest in my book. Not sure how it could be seen differently.
