texasthunder
Have a couple questions for those who are wise. These questions are based as if there will be no CBA next year. 1) How many players can each team tender in a year ? 2) If a player was tendered in 2009, can he be tendered again in 2010 ? Thanks Guys.
corrupt3d
1) Unlimited, but while we are on the subject, only one franchise tag can be done per team 2) As long as he's still an RFA, yes he can.
mhearn
so can players still hold out and not choose to sign if they are unhappy or for whatever reasons? sorry if that's a stupid question.

Veretax
In an uncapped year the teams also have a so called Tranisition tag (2 of them) that they can use to tag a player they desire to keep while the team transitions (not sure on the exact definition), but that's a bit different from the franchise tag. I think you are correct. Also, the RESTRICTED status is up in the air for many players depending on if no CBA is reached. No CBA = uncapped 2010, lock-out in 2011. Rigt now, if it remans uncapped, players with 5 years or less are RFA If a CBA is reached, usually 3 years or less are RFA. That could change in the new agreement... The NFL is in the Supreme Court right being sued about their monopolized merchandise. The NFL says they are ONE league with 32 teams, but the arguement is some claim they are 32 single teams free to negotiate separately... This could have serious implications.
