Oldskool
Quakes on different plates are not the harbinger of doom. As far as what the theory of plate tectonics says, each fault will erupt and release energy on their own time and not because of an external force. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/8a/Plates_tect2_en.svg The earthquakes here are due to the collision between the NA plate and the Pacific Plate. The earthquake in Mexico City is due to the collision of the NA plate (on the opposite side of us) and the Caribbean plate.

Special K
We're all gonna DIE!!! Actually, I've only felt a couple of them as they are centered west of me. The one a couple months ago though, that wasn't bad, but I certainly felt it...the fault line was like a mile from our house. We should make a doom and gloom thread about California, what's gonna kill us all first...earthquakes, fires, or our legislature?
