Mickalino
Name this player : He was drafted the same year AND same round as Darrell Green, and like Darrell, he is STILL playing in the league today.
redman
That's a good question. I know which year it was and the round (I'll shut up so I don't ruin it for others), and my guess on the player is Morton Anderson. ------------------ "Loosen up, Sandy baby. Mickalino
redman, think about your answer for a second....Darrell Green drafted in the same round as a kicker ? That's okay, it's pretty late, so I'll let that one slide.
indyskinsfan
Change it. it's Bruce Matthews, of the Tennessee Titans and the former Houston Oilers. He was taken by Houston as the #9 pick overall out of USC. Darrell naturally was taken, #28 in the 1st. redman
Mick, I'm pretty sure that Anderson was a first rounder, but as I'm thinking about it more Anderson may date back to '81. ------------------ "Loosen up, Sandy baby. Fitz
Mick, if you say C(K)urt Warner, somebody here will hurt you...
NavyDave
Too bad we didn't see those how long darrell green has been in the league spoofs like they did with Matthews ------------------ Dave
Mickalino
Indy, you got it... Redman, Morten Anderson was drafted one year earlier, in 1982. But I can't find anything on which round he was drafted in. You could be right tho, he may have been the only kicker ever drafted in the 1st round. KevinthePRF
I'll keep this fun Darrell trivia up with something a little more..........fun. Can you name the last player that wore number 28 for the Redskins......before Darrell Green?
Mickalino
Joe Lavender
BostonSkins
Morten Anderson was a 4th round pick in 1982. Sebastian Janikowski, of course, was the most recent kicker selected in the first round. There have been others but not in the last 20 years or so.
KMP
I thought it was Bruce Matthews as well. Is this correct Mick? ------------------
Mickalino
Bruce Matthews it was... Actually, Matthews and Green have another thing in common, that I could have used as a hint - They both stayed on the same team their entire career. By the way, when I said Joe Lavender, I was responding to Kevin's question
KevinthePRF
Joe Lavender is...........incorrect! In fact, to my knowledge, Joe Lavender sported number 20.
Mickalino
That's right....and his sidekick Lamar Parrish wore Champ's old number
Kevin West
Ted Vactor?
KevinthePRF
Ted Vactor is...........incorrect! Now if I asked who wore S Mark Murphy's number 29 before he joined the Redskins in 1977, Ted Vactor would of been the answer
Om
Guess I'll have to start keeping my Skins research material at work, Kevin (unless someone has a link to a site that has not only rosters but player numbers dating back to the Dark Ages ). However, I will take a stab or two: Eddie "The Black Shoes Only Made Me Look Slow" Brown? Herb "Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow" Mul-key?
KevinthePRF
Hmmmm two great picks, lets see...... Eddie Brown sported number 25 for the Skins and Mul-key did indeed sport number 28! But alas, there are two more that had the number in between Mul-key and Green. Who, who could they be, looking for the latter of course.
