BLB:($ 273 million)Satellite to Study Global-Warming Gases Lost in Space

One hundred "plus" years?

Okay, what about the "warming trends" from the previous 5,999,999,899 years?

Unbelievable.

Just because something can be caused by natural events, doesn't mean that we can't cause similar events.

There is more than one way to kill a tree. Just because in the history of the world most tree deaths have been due to natural causes is not good evidence that no tree deaths have been caused by human activity.

Do you wish to discuss a particular warming trend in the 5,999,999,899 years?

For all of those supporting Global Warming (which doesn't exist btw, its now called Global Climate Change) being man made can I get an explanation of the causes of the Medieval Warm Period or the Little Ice Age? If you can find a way to blame this on cars and factories I want to hear it.

Do you think the scientists in the 1700's were concerned that the world was about to freeze because the temperatures had dropped almost 1 degree on average? If so I guess it makes sense to panic that they have risen that much since that time. No reason to think that it fluctuates like its been doing for millions of years.

It is likely that no single thing caused the temperature changes over Europe in that time frame.

It is important to remember though the changes in temperature at the time were in fact almost exclusively limited to Europe (with some spreading to the rest of the Northern hemisphere).

This seems pretty good too:

Now, let's turn the table. We have much more data for the current situation then the Little Ice Age or midevil warming period.

Would you like to explaing the current warming cycle W/O green house gasses?

Please, keep in mind that we are still having top 10 years in terms of temperatures even though we have had several years now of record or near record lows for solar output (we have continiuos sunspot data going ack to the 1750's) when formulating your response.

.

actually there was a show on the little ice age and what happened was a huge volcano was the main reason for the huge change, at one point it was snowing in the summer here in the US it was on the discovery channel i believe

this is also why when washington crossed the deleware there was so much ice :)

Yes really!!

Your link is from 2004, and even then they were talking about what HAD happened so it was old information.

Haven't you heard that an ice is coming?

You can see all of the data going back to the 1700's here:

http://solarscience.msfc.nasa.gov/greenwch/spot_num.txt

We are now in a low for solar output, but 2008 was still the 8th warmest year on record.

In this thread you can see various statistical analysis that I do to demonstrate the fact that the it is much warmer than expected based on historical trends based on solar output as measured by sunspot number
