redman
I just read an article in this week's SI about GM Billy Bean's revolutionary approach to the baseball draft, and how it's helped Oakland be a winner despite being a small market team. The article prominantly mentions Oakland's Asst. GM, Paul DePodesta. I thought as I was reading this, "Hmmm, I went to 3rd grade with a Paul DePodesta." This was 20 years ago at St. Stephens Episcopal Boys School in Alexandria, VA, which had grades 3-12. So I did a little digging, and based upon his age (equivalent to mine) and the fact that he went to H.S. in Alexandria, I believe it's him. Amazing. You don't have to be interested, I just was amazed.
Riggo-toni
I spent a year in grade school with Neil Armstrong's son, and I used to deliver newspapers to Gary Hart's house.....
Henry
Small world indeed. I attended St. Stephens in 1983 as well.
redman
That's funny, Henry. Even funnier, I got my 6th demerit (for the second time that year) on the next-to-last day of school. Lucky for me my family moved to CA for the following school year, otherwise it would have been "D-hall" all over again!
Henry
I was in the 7th grade at the time. That was the first year you had to wear a jacket and tie every day. I'm sure I was too old to know either you or the ball player.
