the fact Westbrook can be effective as the #2 or #3 receiver is as I said negated by the fact that up to now Michael's ego has refused to accept that that may indeed become his role in Washington or elsewhere.<br /><br />But on the same thought, I think it will be harder for him to accept here in DC because this is the team that drafted him #1.<br /><br />Starting over in Dallas or somewhere else, I think it may be easier for him to take on another role.<br /><br />With Westbrook it all comes down to psychology, it always has.<br /><br />If the Redskins had a coach that held a firm hand and was someone that players looked up to and respected like a Gibbs or Walsh, Michael's career might have turned out very differently, even with the injuries.<br /><br />Utah, I was speaking more off the top of my head than after doing any careful research and you caught me <img border="0" title="" alt="[smile]" src="smile.gif" /> <br /><br />What I remember is the Redskins having must win games a number of times in both '99 and seasons before where we couldn't seem to get any receivers open.<br /><br />The worst case of that was the second Dallas game in '99 when Westbrook and Connell mouthed off that the Cowboys were lucky to win the first game and there would be payback.<br /><br />The Skins lost that second game in embarrassing fashion and Westbrook was nowhere to be found against an older and oft-injured Deion Sanders.<br /><br />Connell caught one 50 yard pass but was shut out down the stretch and the team lost by double digits.<br /><br />That type of outcome convinced me over a number of years that Westbrook was just not a money player that could take on and beat the better players when the bright lights were on the team.<br /><br />Ditto for the playoff game in '99 against the Bucs where the Redskins receivers didn't do anything against the Bucs' zone defense.
