InsaneBoost Posted January 21, 2008 Share Posted January 21, 2008 Well, my Canon PowerShot A310 decided to take a crap on me a couple months ago, and before it starts getting warm again, I'd like to get a new camera, that way when one of the first car meets happens, or race, I can take some pictures / videos, along with when training camp and football starts again, yes I know that's far away. Well, I've been looking at the Canon PowerShot SX100 IS, seems like a great camera, has good reviews, CNET gave it a 7.3, the users gave it an 8, so I was just wondering if you all could read on it, and give me your opinions. ffxdrummer Posted January 21, 2008 Share Posted January 21, 2008 I have the Powershot S3 IS, which I guess is the predecessor to the one you're looking at. I love it, mine's only 6MP (ha, only), but it does everything I need it to. Powers up fast, decent low-light pictures, good zoom, solid stabilizer. I have no complaints. I do wish it had an internal recharchable battery rather than taking AA's, not sure if the one you're looking at does or not. EDIT: 2 things I notice about yours that is different from mine. Mine has a viewfinder as well as an LCD screen, the viewfinder is nice for saving battery and bright outdoor shots that wash out the LCD. Yours only has the LCD. Your LCD is fixed, mine flips out and rotates, so I can turn it inward to protect it while it's in my camera bag, yours permanently faces out. I hope it's scratch resistant. It has a digic III processor and 10x optical....it's a lil bigger than you psa310 but it's quality is like going from Mike westbrook to randy moss. the 1600 iso doesn't get me so hawt but it's better than 90% out there..... You can get a sony of the same $ range that has 3200iso but the catch is the stabalizer isn't even CLOSE to the quality of the cannon lens..... Panasonic and canon own at this because their lens adjust to movement rather than try that anti blur/shake crap......the other brands are bogus when it comes to this.... MAKE SURE you buy an Ultra II SD card or your're gonna waste you time with that camera...... You can get an Ultra II 2gb anywhere for less than $35 ----- Trust me, buy that beast.....
