re-sign Gardner and draft a DE like Suggs-we could make it work with our LB's Arrington, Trotter, Armstead and Pierce. Keep Mitchell for depth and mayby draft a lower round LB for depth.

I concur ASF, and I add that because Marvin Lewis brought his vaunted 4-3 here, changing to a 3-4 would mean he made a mistake in matching personnel with the system last year. Not a chance....

Don't listen to ASF jimster. The real reason is that even if Marvin left town tomorow, our players have been through three systems in three years and need some stability. Any more drastic changes and we will be the laghing stock of the NFL and nobody will want to play for us. Also, no D players on our team to my knowledge have ever played in a 3/4. It's a very diferent beast than the 4/3.

I like the 3/4, It's a little weak against the run but could be usefull against a mobile QB. If we were starting from scratch with a low ranked D, I would say sure why not. but to take a # 5 D and flip it upside down? Not a chance.

Well, Bruce Smith played in a 3-4, but thats not really relevant for the future.

We don't have the personnel to run the 3-4. Specifically, we don't have a nose tackle. And no, Gardener is not that nose tackle. I like him right where he is.
