88Comrade2000
Does Marvin get a new home in 2003? Gaurenteed coaching changes: 1. Cowboys: Parcells probably will be coach by Friday, unless that Tampa claim mucks things up. If not, look at Green, Turner, Stoops or Holmgren if available. I say Marvin has no shot here. 2. Lions: Depends what Ford wants. I could see Denny Green or if he were available- Mike Holmgren going here. Both being former coaches in the division. Also, Steve Marucci-if available could go here. Lou Saban is also a candidate. I think Marvin has a shot here but I don't think he would be the Lions #1 choice. Parcells would also be candidate if he's not the Boys coach. 3. Bengals: I think Mike Brown will be nudge by the league to give minorities serious consideration. Possible candidates: Green, Univ. of Pittsburgh -Walt Harris, Steelers OC- Mike Mularkey-familiarity with afc central, Marvins Lewis-also familiar with afc central, Rams DC- Lovie Smith, someone with Bengal organization. 4. Jaguars: Stoops, Saban, Parcells, Green are being mentioned. My bet is on Stoops. I don't think Marvin would be considered here. I saw if Marvin has a shot among the gaurenteed openings, it would be with either the Lions or Bengals. There's always a surprise opening or two and there will be one this season. Possible surprise openings: 1. Seahawks: Okay this one isn't a surprise but I think Holmgren has earned another year based on the Seahawks finish. Thing is, the Seahawks will hire a GM. Will Holmgren stay? If there's an opening here, I don't think Marvin would be a candidate here. Marucci- if available might land here. 2. 49ers: I think San Francisco's impending quick exit from the playoffs; will prompt a coaching change; despite Mooch having one final year left. If this happens, I could see Holmgren coming here if available. If there's an opening, I don't see Marvin being a candidate. 3. Saints: Even though I think Haslett got an extension, back to back collasps could cost him his job. If that happens, Marvin may have a shot here. 4. Dolphins: Wandstat has failed for 3 years now. 2 quick exits and missing the playoffs this year. Wouldn't shock me if he got canned. Though Norv could be a replacement here. If there's an opening, I don't think Marvin would be considered. 5. Cardinals: With Bidwell, you never know. He could decide for a coaching change. Maybe Marvin gets a look here? I say Marvin has a shot at a new job but he doesn't have many jobs to be considered for.
Canyonero!
Of the 2 possible-probable picks (Detroit and Cincy), there's really only 1 real team a good coach would consider. Marvin Lewis, despite our Defense's up and down year, can be a good coach somewhere in this league. I wouldn't wish a Cincy coaching job on my worst enemy, let alone Marvin Lewis. After the crap he pulled with Michigan St-he would deserve Cincy. Do you honestly Marvin really cares about the Skins? He's looking for a head coaching job and that will his goal until he gets one. OrangeSkin
This stupid new Johnny Cochran rule will probably get Marvin a job.
bubba9497
I doubt Marvin will leave. Just a hunch.
