The Full Monty
Although the Redskins ranking in the ESPN-Scouts Inc. Top Running Back Rankings has already been discussed, in the most recent Media Ref article, I take issue with a claim made regarding Michael Turner of the Chargers. The opening summary of the Media Ref piece: Summary: In ESPN-Scouts’ Inc. July 10 ranking of the NFL’s best running backs by team, San Diego Chargers RB Michael Turner is unequivocally described as the “best backup in the NFL”. However, despite Turner’s stellar 6.3 yards per carry, his game-time experience and production level in other major aspects are far lower than Washington’s Ladell Betts and Jacksonville’s Maurice Jones-Drew, among others. Ultimately, it comes down to reigning NFL MVP LaDainian Tomlinson’s record-breaking success, which limits Michael Turner’s playing opportunities and plays a significant factor in the success Turner does have. In short, any claim regarding Michael Turner as the “best backup in the NFL” is based more on potential than actual production. For the rest of the article, click here. Brandon Lloyd Christmas
jonesdrew is by a landslide the best backup in the league. he'll be a starter once taylor decides to retire. hes a huge receiving threat, he has great speed, hes tiny so he can evade tacklers, and hes built like a bowling ball. his 13 touchdowns are evidence of his skill, especially on a team like jacksonville that struggles to put up points.
