China
Reality Nudges Ahead of Dystopia Of Britain's 4.2 million interconnected CCTV surveillance cameras, a whopping 32 are within 200 yards of George Orwell's home. The CCTV system, by the way, is the wet dream of several big city American mayors, including Chicago's Richard Daley and New York's Michael Bloomberg. :paranoid:
dfitzo53
Out of boredom I did a little math on this: I'm going to take Britain in this article to mean Great Britain, which has an area of roughly 80,800 sq. miles. This means that with 4.2 million cameras, there are, on average, 51 cameras per square mile, which equates to .00001678 cameras per square yard. In the average 125663 sq. yard area (200 yard radius around a point) there should be 2 cameras. In that same area around Orwell's house, there are apparently 32. However, it's important to keep in mind that my math includes all of the land in Britain, not just the urban locations where you're likely to find cameras. In an area like Orwell's, the average camera density is likely much higher than 2 per 200-yard radius.
roqnap1
As a law-abiding citizen...I wish they would install CCTV anywhere and everywhere in the US. I have no problem with it.
