Now that the Pro Bowl is over and RB Tiki Barber is officially retired, reality should set in with the Giants that one of their top offseason priorities has to be to replace their best player. Publicly, they have insisted the heir apparent is on the roster in Brandon Jacobs, a huge, fast running back who has been mostly a success in short-yardage situations. But there are many questions about him: How will he hold up over 16 games? What can he do when he gets 25 carries per game instead of 5-10? How will he be in clutch situations? Because none of those answers are known, the Giants are likely to at least look at any available veteran running back on the market to come in and compete with Jacobs. Two who may attract their interest are San Diego's Michael Turner, a restricted free agent, and Chicago's Thomas Jones, who could be available via trade. But the price on them will be expensive. They might be better off signing a potential bargain such as T.J. Duckett or Ahman Green. . . .

One of the most interesting positions for the Giants as they head into the offseason is receiver, where they have lots of talent and lots of questions. If they believe Amani Toomer will return healthy from a torn ACL, Sinorice Moss will rebound from an injury plagued rookie season and Tim Carter will eventually realize his potential, then they are all set behind Plaxico Burress. But that's a lot to hope for, which is why they likely will add at least one receiver, likely in the draft. Toomer is supposedly on schedule but hasn't begun running yet. Moss has proven only that he gets hurt a lot. And Carter blew what might have been his last big chance to make his mark on this team. The Giants appear to have more faith in Moss and Toomer than they do in Carter, which is why when they look for a receiver it will likely be a burner with decent size and deep-threat potential -- exactly what Carter was supposed to be.

I don't see Duckett as being the best combination with Jacobs. They will need a RB who is a good receiver out of the backfield because Eli has so much trouble hitting the WR's.

Make a trade now for Duckett!!! ;):D
