Cskin
Why have Adam Archeleta covering Jason Whitten on the third down Dallas converted to get into field goal position? He's been exposed as absolutely oblivious in pass coverage, and the Washington Post reported on what opposing teams were seeing when playing the Redskins and suggested, in great detail, that teams were targeting AA down the seam and realizing huge gains and drive continuing yardage? Could you not have brought in Jimoh to line up over him at the line of scrimmage? Could you not have jammed him off the line of scrimmage and prevented him from accessing the center seam? AA let him release and then FOLLOWED him down the seam!!!!!! This in my opinion is arrogance.... Williams' believing his system works regardless of the weakness every other team is exploiting with huge positive results.
darrell1106
You are preaching to the choir but its nothing the skins can do about it. He just was not worth that contract w/ his limitations as a safety. Only being able to stay in the box and be effective warrants a "3rd down specialist" type of contract. Not the second coming of Ronnie Lott (sp?). I'll give it up for Czabe during the post-game show. He asked GW straight up, "How can you explain a guy w/ a signing bonus of $10M being replaced by a guy that came in 3 weeks ago?" GW gave is canned response mentioning how they install packages every game and most of the packages that Troy was in happend to be called during the game. We all know that isn't necessarily true becuase Rumph definitely didn't get as much playing time as Troy aginst Indy or Dallas.
DiscoBob
In most cases, a safety on a TE, with help over the top, is a good match up for the defense. I think GW was concerned about playing the pass 100%, because a 10 yard run would have put the pukes in FG range.....so having AA in there was to protect against a draw....with the hope that he could stay with Witten with over the top help if they decided to throw.... The answer to the question is so obvious as to negate the need for the question: we way overpaid Archuleta given his awful pass coverage skills. What other explanation could there possibly be? Czaban simply likes to be a gadfly and attempt to appear controversial.

I guess I have the luxury of only listening to Czabe every once in a while, from outside of DC, and not on a regular basis of which I probably would be irritated. His timing was off after a win like that but the question had to be asked. GW has just as much input on Defensive free agents as anyone else. Its on him to deal w/ AA and the fans want to know why he is struggling so much. But again Czabe's timing is off a lot and I guess that's being controversial but I being that GW is pretty straight up w/ the press I thought he may have said that AA is struggling right now (just like our other FA pick-up) and he'll be okay in the long run. That didn't happen but oh well. He also asked Troy about why Buffalo let him go. That was just plain ol' weird and uncalled for but Troy answered and kept it moving. alaadin123
The thing with AA is, we knew he was a liability in pass coverage, so why we even paid him that kind of money is beyond our knowing. He's only a role player and he makes pro-bowler, all american, franchise player money!
illone
Did you by any chance catch the Comcast post-game show? Steve Czabe asked Williams point blank about Archuleta's signing bonus and Troy Vincent's role on the team. Williams' answer was very telling. I think we're going to be seeing more Troy Vincent and less Archuleta.
SC3
I'm not totally sure if Archaleta is slower than Whitten, but Whitten ran a pretty good route to keep Archaleta from getting a clean running lane. I'm guessing that the skins were in nickel coverage and double teamed the wide receivers spread way out meaning that the remaining defensive back would have man coverage. I don't think any of our linebackers could have covered Whitten on man coverage. A more ideal match up would have been putting someone big like Sean Taylor against a TE that good. trez
In today's post article Witten was making fun of Archuleta for not being able to cover him. Archuleta is a bust.

In theory a SS on a TE is what you want. That SS usually has the size and the mobility to stay w/ that TE if he so happens to try and receive a pass. AA was beat right off the line (which I beleive he was up there just in case of the run) and never caught up, until it was too late. AA is awful:doh:
