We got money from Sanders, so what do we do with it? (sorry, I know I'm not supposed to mention his name ever again)

Theoretically, we had enough to sign the draft picks without it, so only Carter and the new DE should count against the money we saved from Sander's retirement.

So what's our wish list with this 2.5 million?

I think I'd prefer to see some contract restructuring where we pay somebody more this year to lessen next year's cap number. Basically give a new contract where we pay the salary now and assume they made some of the incentives. Oftentimes, incentives for this year count against next year's cap, so lets just put them in this years salary. Anyway, that's my idea primarily because I can't think of anyone I'd really like to see in a Skins uniform off the top of my head.

I'd still like a DT, but I don't know of anyone worth much out there. If one becomes available...I think we'd be in a bidding war with a few teams including the Jets.

well, for one thing we don't know if Carter is going to make it back all the way in the NFL. So some attention has to be paid to the fact we may still be in the market for a back over the summer if Carter falters.

you also have to look at the battle between the youngsters at free safety and conclude that Marty may opt to sign Keith Lyle for one season and let Terrell/Ohalete get another year of seasoning before letting either start.

You also need to leave some room to account for any injuries that crop up in camp that put the team in a vulnerable spot. What is a lineman or linebacker gets hurt?

We may have to dip into the secondary free agent market to sign a player at a spot we now think we have covered.

We're not making a Super Bowl run this year, so we don't need any more FA starters, barring injury. I'd like to see if some of our less-heralded younsters like Terrell, Ohalete, Monds, etc. can play before spending more money.

I also think we shouldn't rush right out right now and spend the money as we don't need to. We should wait until at least the end of camp to see preliminarily how everyone's performing and what injuries if any we need to address. If all's well, then we ought to consider extending Bailey, Jansen and (you guys will love this one) Westbrook, and maybe Barber if he fits our defensive scheme. We need to make sure that players we've drafted and developed don't simply vanish in free agency once they've come of age.

We should use that money to tie up Barber and whatever of our unrestricted free agents we intend to keep next season. Of course, it will take some time for Marty to figure out who he wants to keep but I think the Skins would be well served trying to absorb some of that large cap hit we are taking next season.

I agree about saving some money for injuries and to extend contracts.

How do we know we aren't superbowl bound? You get the breaks and anything is possible.

Who knew that the sorry a$$ed Giants were going to the big dance?

A concussion to the Rams QB and they are done.

BJohnson's annual injuries or the prevent offense that Dungy employs and the bucs are done

I won't discount the Skins until they are eliminated.
