Hormones. She may change after the pregnancy is over - keep this in mind. Hormones can do crazy stuff, especially when it comes to girl vs girl. I would still stop payment on the check, though, bu I would also write to her and ask why she is blowing everything out of proportion, and point out to her that, if anyone is acting like a poor friend, it is indeed her.

The best advice is clearly, don't talk to any women at work, or at the most just one. (Right now it is only one, at least....)
