88Comrade2000
Well with the Jets today, it's now 9 openings. Greg can look at new jobs next year but there might not be many attractive openings. **- Potential 2007 openings **Bills- Well Mularky will be back, but he'd better make the playoffs in 06. Pats- no opening Dolphins- no opening Jets- no opening, hiring new coach this year Bengals- no opening Steelers- no opening Browns- no opening **Ravens- Billick got a reprive this year but if he doesn't make the playoffs in 06, goodbye! Jaguars- no opening Texans- no opening, hiring new coach this year Colts- no opening **Titans- No playoffs and bud adams may decide it's time for fisher to go, even though it will be a rebuilding year again. Raiders- no opening, hiring new coach this year Broncos- no opening Chiefs- no opening, hiring Herm Edwards soon **Chargers- tension between Shotty and GM. Still could part ways this offseason but if the Chargers don't make the playoffs next year, goodbye Marty. Giants- no opening Eagles- no opening **Dallas- Parcells may leave this offseason, his contract has one more year. Stay tuned. Skins- hopefully no opening Bears- no opening Vikings- no opening, hiring new coach this year Packers- no opening, hiring new coach this year Lions- no opening, hiring new coach this year Falcons- no opening probably Panthers- no opening Bucs- no opening Saints- no opening, hiring new coach this year Seahawks- no opening probably, but Holmgren's contract ends this season I think **Cardinals- No playoffs in 06, no Denny Green in 07 **49ers- 49ers don't improve to at least 6 wins, Nolan could be gone Rams- no opening, hiring new coach this year So at this moment, possible openings next year: Buffalo- Greg ain't going back there Ravens- Watch this one, if there's an opening- Greg could move up I-95 Titans- Definitely watch this one, he was DC there. Chargers- Probably best option there- talent wise; should this be available in 07 Cowboys- Don't think Synder will let this one happen- unless Jerry wants to give us a couple of #1's Cardinals- it's the cards, I doubt Greg would go here. 49ers- it's the current York owned 49ers, Greg wouldn't go here. So for those worried about Greg leaving next year- I doubt it. Only if the Chargers, Titans or Ravens have openings in 07- would Greg be tempted. So right now, odds are Greg will be here should Gibbs decide to leave in 08 or 09.

Mania
I'm pretty positive Greg will be the successor to Gibbs. The only viable option for next year wold be the Titans job. I don't see him going to Dallas or Baltimore.

SoCalSkins
Cowboys- Don't think Synder will let this one happen- unless Jerry wants to give us a couple of #1's Snyder has no control over Williams taking a head coaching position. Draft picks only apply to HC under contract wanting to change teams. I doubt GW would go to the Cowboys, but there is nothing binding him.
jrockster21
Ummmm. Where have you been? Williams signed a 3-year extension which keeps him from accepting a HC position until 2007. - Just re-read your initial post, you ARE talking about 2007...long day.
bbuzz1962
Ummmmmm I don't know if you heard, he signed a 3 year extension for as much as most head coaches get paid. He is not going anywhere. Who wouldn't want the head coach position when Gibbs retires?? He will have the offensive game plan of Joe Gibbs along with his defensive game plan. Great combo for sucess. 88Comrade2000
Uh- you guys did read the title: 2007 OPENINGS. I'm not talking about openings that are currently available: 2006. The 3 year contract extension Greg signed, says he's free to look at jobs next year. Next year is 2007 and so I was just posting what could be available next year: 2007. Though this blurb from the rumorsite: PFT makes you wonder: >>>WILLIAMS FREE TO LEAVE THIS YEAR, IF HE WANTS Despite initial reports that the new contract signed by Redskins defensive coordinator Gregg Williams prevents him from interviewing for a head coaching job in 2006, other reports suggest that Williams' $8 million, three-year deal does not preclude him from leaving this year, if he so chooses. Who's right? Per NFL spokesman Greg Aiello, a provision preventing an assistant coach from interviewing for or accepting a head coaching position is prohibited by league rules. It's possible that Williams and Redskins owner Daniel Snyder has agreed verbally that Williams won't leave, but how enforceable is that? Put simply, it isn't. So if someone wants to, say, double the $2.67 million annual salary that Williams will earn the next three years, Williams is free to accept.<<< >>>
SoCalSkins
Um, yes there is. The contract extension he just signed. Nope. The extension only precludes him for taking a job this year. He can walk away from the deal to take a HC position next year.

Mister Happy
He can look for a head coaching job in 2007, but he won't. He likes it here. He likes the area. His family likes the area. He likes his players. He likes his staff. He likes coaching next to a Hall of Fame coach with 3 Super Bowl rings. Why would he give up all of that for a job that pays less? Watch him on the sidelines. He is having a lot of fun. No way is he leaving. Ever.
