Bucs check alleged sale of password

The password gave some season ticket holders a way to buy tickets ahead of the general public. But it may have been leaked.

TAMPA - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are looking into reports that some season ticket holders disclosed a password that enabled the purchase of additional tickets to Saturday's playoff game before they went on sale to the general public.

The Bucs sent a password Monday via e-mail to season ticket holders who paid for playoff tickets in December. The password allowed them to buy up to six additional playoff tickets.

Jeff Kamis, the team's director of public relations, called the presale an "added bonus" to loyal Bucs fans. He heard reports of the password being sold and posted on the Internet.

Kamis was not sure how many tickets were available during the presale or how many nonseason ticket holders used the password to purchase tickets.

"I can say that it was a very limited number of tickets," said Kamis. "There weren't that many available to begin with."

Kamis did not think the Bucs would punish any season ticket holders who misused the password.

The remaining tickets sold out quickly after going on sale to the general public Tuesday.

How on earth would they be able to punish any season ticket holders to begin with. These weren't personalized passwords we're talking about here. The passwords were the same for everybody, so singling out anyone person would be near impossible.
