skinsfan93
This thread is for all those people who claim that we need a GM to allow Gibbs only to coach and have another person make the final decisions on player personnel. Well, if you look at yesterday's game (the biggest game in probably the last 6 years), all of the players that Gibbs brought in had huge games. So do you want a GM now? Granted it's a little early at this point but you have to admit that we have more hits than misses. Look at Brunell, Portis, Daniels, Cooley, Washington, Moss, Springs, Griffin, Harris, Sellers, and Greg Williams...the list goes on and on. While Gibbs wasn't completely responsible for all of these moves, he had the final say and these guys made plays. Gibbs isn't like Parcells in that it's only his views on whether to sign a player. He involves everyone in the decision-making process. And the best part....Gibbs brings in players that have a certain character, a never give up attitude that is about the betterment of the team. This is why I am a die-hard Redskins fan but just as important, a die-hard Gibbs fan! HTTR!!!
Loyal2Washington
No he doesn't need a GM, Gibbs just needed time to get adjusted to the current NFL. His players needed time to understand what exactly the coaches were trying to accomplish, as far as philosophy. The only leg the GM supporters had was that Brunell did in deed look washed up last year, but that has all changed. The majority of players he has brought in, either through FA or the draft, have played an important part in our 8-6 record. :gaintsuck :eaglesuck :dallasuck

jbooma
I would still like to see better results from the later rounds in the draft, we are very thin and one of the main reasons is our lack of finding players who can contribute late in the draft. MRMADD
I do think Gibbs could use some help in that department. Gibbs, of course, is not paying any attention to available free agents, draft picks, etc., right now. He's focused on the Giants. We have Vinnie Cerrato and crew doing that, and let's be honest: their track record, outside of first round picks and high-priced free agents, isn't good. The roster is very thin. Every team has a few big players who eat up a big chunk of the salary cap, but the Skins have taken it too far. They can't afford to keep many mid-priced players. This team has some glaring holes to fill this offseason (DE, WR, etc) but are cap-tight and probably can't add more than one or two players even if they rework all the obvious contracts. Gibbs, of course, will always have final say, but having some better talent at GM looking out for him could only help.
