Cautionary Message for Women (especially college students)

This is serious, no joke. I got this email from my school, the University of Hawaii, but I assume this could happen at ANY college campus, or even at an off-campus location:

Campus Security learned of a dangerous situation that occurred very

recently involving a female UH Manoa student. The student responded to

an advertisement placed on several campus public bulletin boards looking

for females to work as an art model. The student met with the suspect

at a restaurant near campus and was convinced to accompany him to his

home/studio where she was sexually assaulted. She reported the incident

to a UH official and subsequently to the Honolulu Police Department.

HPD has since made an arrest in the case.

This Crime Alert is a warning to use extreme caution should you choose

to respond to an ad placed on a bulletin board. Never go with a stranger

without another person or, as a minimum, letting someone know where you

are going and how long you expect to be gone.

UH Manoa bulletin boards are considered “free speech” areas; the

contents of postings are not pre-screened nor controlled.

We encourage anyone who may have been a victim of a similar situation to

contact Campus Security at 956-8211, Office of the Vice Chancellor for

Students at 956-3290, Women’s Center at 956-8059 or any campus official

to obtain help.

And that's funny because....

I personally don't laugh at 17 year-old girls getting raped and/or murdered, but if that's your thing, I'm sure there are other message boards that cater to your type.

I don't think he was laughing at Behl's death, but at the image of how naive and or obstinate/rebellious someone has to be to get involved with a man THAT much older, with no real prospects or life to call his own, other than hanging around a campus to get young girls he can control or easily impress.

Maybe its just me, but I still fail to find the humor in the situation.
