(Oct. 3, 2005) -- Antrel Rolle, the Arizona Cardinals' first-round draft pick this year, will miss the rest of the season because of a left knee injury.

No roster move was immediately made, but coach Dennis Green didn't expect the former University of Miami cornerback, the No. 8 pick in April, to heal and complete rehabilitation in time to return this season.

Rolle played in three games, making 18 tackles (17 solo) before tearing meniscus cartilage during a 37-12 loss at Seattle on Sept. 25.

Rolle saw prominent Miami orthopedist John Uribe over the weekend, and Uribe did the operation today.

"You hate to see any player get an injury that takes him out of the season, particularly since it's so early in the season and you hate to see your front-line guy taken out of the year," Green said. "But we'll march on with it. The guys that filled in did a pretty good job yesterday. They played hard and they kept pace with the rest of the guys on the defense."

Antreal? Of the 3 corners, I still think Rogers was the best pick. I think Rolle will be good, but the injury obviously sets him back. Pac Man has not looked good to this point, but Tennessee has issues that go beyond him, so it's probably not fair to judge at this point.

We have lucked out the past two drafts. We were talking about picking Winslow and took Taylor instead and Winslow missed almost all of last season with an injury and will miss this season while Taylor is a starter for us. This year we didn't get to pick Rolle or Pac-Man and instead got Rogers. Rolle is injured for the season and pac-man looks overrated, while Rogers is showing promise and had a solid rookie start last week.

Rolle is good and that injury can happen to any aggresive corner (making tackles on running backs can do that). Hope he gets better.

Rogers was a good call. Not only is he just as good (maybe better, we'll see) he WANTED to play for Gibbs and the Skins. I read somewhere he called Gibbs 8 times before he was drafted. You want the guy who's not only a good guy but who WANTS to give you his all.

That was a great pick for us.
