CrazyJoe92
As you can see we just picked up the rookie LB from Stanford. He looks like he can do some good for the team. He is said to have great speed at 6'1 234lbs (we know the skins will put 30 more pounds on him before the season starts :40oz: ) and at Stanford he had a lot of good plays. I know if we don’t get him at a LB spot he will be great on the special teams. What do you guys think? Has anyone heard anything else about our new addition? :wewantd: :dallasuck :eaglesuck
ratbert_rizzo
Hes a 6th round draft pick who plays outside linebacker. He played on the west coast so I have never heard of him of seen him as far as I know
Joeythetapeworm
http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/playerprofiles/olb/jarednewberry.html Height: 6-11/8 Weight: 234 Strengths: Excellent athletic ability...Has a non-stop motor and is seemingly all over the field...Does a nice job in coverage...A gamer and was very productive...Team leader and captain. Weaknesses: Undersized for the pro game...Needs to add bulk and get stronger...Struggles when forced to take on blocks...May need to have a couple of big tackles in front to allow him to roam and make plays. Notes: Doesn't have the physical tools you look for but could succeed in the right scheme...Could project as a nice backup and special teams player at the next level. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/2005/draft/players/64401.html BIO: Two-year starter who posted 45/9/.5 as a senior, also intercepting one pass and breaking up three more. Junior totals included 67/10/3. POSITIVES: Athletic linebacker with excellent range. Gets depth on pass drops, fluid moving laterally and easily alters his angle of attack. Displays a burst of closing burst speed and a good degree of suddenness to his game. Effectively uses hand technique to stay off blocks. Adequate job diagnosing the action and stays with tight ends or running backs in coverage. NEGATIVES: Slow shedding blocks and handled by opposing receivers. Possesses more of a burst of speed, which he cannot sustain. Inconsistent last season. ANALYSIS: Coming off a disappointing senior campaign, Newberry has moved from a potential first-day pick into the middle rounds. Possesses the measurables and playing style to be used at weak-side linebacker, and could eventually develop into a starter if he gets his game back on track. PROJECTION: Late Sixth Round

dannyboy70
Can't wait for him to get to 264lbs in a few months. I'm so stoked we hired Joe Weider to be in charge of our offseason workout program.
bulldog
does anyone else think his bio is a bit skewed? he is 6'1 and 234 and has 'excellent athletic ability' but the blurb then goes on to say it is questionable that he has the size and skills to make it in the NFL?? Athlete as in...very strong. 234 is still pretty dang big. Maybe not for the nfl, but for an average guy? Whhoooo. He can run fast also, and can probaly play well. That = Athlete. :2cents: He does have questionable size though, for his position.

I was joking - Joe Weider is the father of modern weightlifting. There's no way Newberry puts on 30 lbs of muscle mass in two months. Besides that, he wouldn't need to — 235-240 is plenty big to play MLB.

I doubt Newberry would start at MLB....but stranger things have happened! Dude must have never gone to a gym before if he doesn't know who Weider is.....or at least have an idea who he is!
