The Evil Genius
This should give us a rough idea of what Betts will command. He was taken 2 picks after Betts was. Eagles | Contract Breakdown: Michael Lewis - posted at KFFL (http://nfl.kffl.com) 13:51 PT: ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli, as an update to our earlier story, reports the deal between the Philadelphia Eagles and S Michael Lewis is worth about $3.15 million over five-years, including a $1.25 million - $1.3 million signing bonus. He'll have base salaries of $225,000 (for 2002), $300,000 (2003), $380,000 (2004), $455,000 (2005) and $545,000 (2006). At that type of contract, Betts would command an extra 250k or so cap hit this year (450k cap hit - the player he replaces). Seems pretty cheap to me Peace. DeathByLinebacker
Unfortunately, RBs generally command more than safeties.
NavyDave
I see us paying him by where he is slotted and holding out wont be in his best interest when there is B Johnson and Rock Cartwright more than willing and capable of being the backup HB.
