I don't think many teams in the league expected him to be cut.......most people know that Gibbs likes to have an experienced veteran QB on the roster at all times. I think he was referring to when Brunell was still in Jacksonville, there were a lot of rumors that he would be cut after June 1, so the Skins didn't need to give up a 3rd round pick for him. Gardner has 4 years in the league so he is not subject to waivers unless the Skins hold on to him until after the trading deadline during the season.
