Astros' Justin Verlander to make season debut Friday vs. Nationals

HOUSTON -- Houston Astros ace Justin Verlander will make his season debut Friday night at the Washington Nationals.

Houston manager Joe Espada made the announcement Wednesday.

"Getting him back is huge because it brings a level of confidence to our team, a boost of confidence that we're going to get someone who's been an MVP, a Cy Young [winner] on the mound," Espada said. "It's [good] for the morale and to get stuff started and moving in the right direction."

Tesla laid off over 10% of its workforce on Sunday night.

Some factory employees only realized they were laid off when their badges didn't work, sources told BI.

At the Nevada factory, the process of weeding out laid-off staff in line to enter caused around a 2-hour backup, one source said.

Tesla told staff it was laying off more than 10% of its workforce on Sunday night, but some workers didn't realize they were laid off until they showed up at the company's facilities, five current or former workers told Business Insider.

The cuts impacted engineers and production associates alike. At Tesla's factory in Sparks, Nevada, workers faced about a two-hour line Monday morning in order to get into the facility as a result of badge checks, one worker said.

The Houston Rockets center purposefully gave fans at Crypto.com Arena a rare yet iconic parting gift in their season-ending win over the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday afternoon. He gave them free chicken.

Marjanović intentionally missed a pair of free throws in the fourth quarter of the Rockets’ 116-105 win over the Clippers, which allowed for the common in-game promotion to hit. The Clippers give all fans inside the arena a free Chick-fil-A sandwich if a visiting player misses two consecutive free throws in the fourth quarter of a game.

Of course, Marjanović knew this and made it very clear to fans what he was doing in the moment. Once he missed the second free throw, he even started celebrating with them.
