  1. I expect basic competency and that's about it.

That will be enough for a 6-11 season.

    I also expect:

    - Jayden getting hurt at midseason. He'll want to tuck the ball and run due to the change of pace of the NFL.

    - A struggling offensive line

    - Defense will be solid

    - We will win more games at home, at notable change from the previous seasons.

    That's about it.

  2. Emmmm, why did the O-Line get neglected in the draft?

I'm starting to guess the new regime blames last year's pathetic O-Line showing on RR and Howell.

No other way around it. We're rolling with most of last year's unit except we added Biadasz and Allegretti, right?

Daniels better start packing some protein milkshakes.

Agree. And I imagine that is what they are going to work hard on with him once he gets into the building. I understand why he did it. It let him protect the ball. But in the NFL it is more important that he protects his body. A couple of picks are fine if it keeps him healthy.

Let's just be realistic for a second.

Most rookie QBs struggle with their transition to the NFL and cover their inefficiencies by running or improvising a play.

JD will also tend to do this.

Problem for him is his wirey frame. Even if he has some great passing ability the chances of being hurt are VERY high if and when he runs. And he WILL run a whole lot just to "make things happen" and try to become the next Mahomes.

It's time we settle down and draft a "pure" passer like McCarthy plus some AAA starters in the O-Line. Don't try to re-invent the wheel!

People say JD reminds them of Cunningham.

Really? Only if you look at the numbers on a spreadsheet regarding weight and height.

Randall was incredibly tough and had freakishly long legs.

Once he got going he was very hard to bring down even by historically good defenses in the NFC East.

It's the first time I ever hear JD being compared to him.

Vick was also one of the most elusive dudes I've ever seen. He regularly juked guys out of their shoes so he was actually pretty decent at not taking a lot of big hits.

IMO he's still a notch above these new mobile QBs.

In his prime Vick was basically unstoppable. And he did have some huge legs on him.

IMO this should be updated to say "slim QBs who also run a lot"

Cousins is pretty slim, but he's a pure pocket passer.

Dude looks like a tank compared to Daniels, though. Frame just looks bulkier.

Honestly at this point I hope they just draft Daniels so I can stop torturing myself rooting for this team every week.

Or how about they surprise us for the good once in a generation and draft McCarthy.

But what if McCarthy is really the next Tom Brady?

Nobody knows. It's actually slightly possible. I'd give it a 10% chance that he's even 50% as clutch as Tom Brady.

I think that is more likely than Daniels being a clutch Lamar Jackson.

So I'm going with Maye 1, McCarthy 2 and if they believe he's a better leader and more of a clutch player then it would be better to take McCarthy. Especially if they don't see Maye being clutch at all.

McCarthy is my pick also. He looks legit in every phase, maybe not spectacular in any one in particular, but just very solid all around.

Daniels looks like RGIII Part Deux. I'll pass.

if we’re able to get an RG3 who can actually read defenses and stay on his feet, then it’s a different ball game.

I mean that's my point bro, there's already one of them already and he plays for the Ravens.

And exceedingly rare QB that has long surpassed RGIII in any meaningful metric.

That's why I said the safer pick would be just your "normal" NFL QB who can throw and read defenses and that's McCarthy.

If I could pepper this post with "likes" I would.  So, so true!

    I know, right?

The most important draft in decades. Expectation is tremendous.

I get everyone wants JD to be the next Lamar. The FO is prob thinking the same thing.

And yet the stench of RGIII still hangs heavy in this organization.

Take McCarthy and be done with it. Safer pick.

Good idea, as we move on through the offseason the OL talk can drift into here…

Absolutely man, until I see some clear improvement with this new group Imma keep remembering every fan that we just finished the worst season in history regarding our O-line.

As someone who saw The Hogs, The younger Hogs, the Pathetic 98 Line, the Two Anchor System (Samuels & Jansen), The Dirtbags, and a bunch of other units who are best forgotten last year's effort is still seared in my eyeballs.

Also, a freak accident that happened to RG3 too.  Eventually, the system he was running, ala 7 from the 9ers was running caught up to him and would've caught up to RG3 had he stayed healthy but again no slide, you're going to get broke in two just like Daniels, eventually.  It's inevitable, at least to me and it's a shame.  I've explained and posted about Daniels and his frame already so I will stop here.

    i see the same thing.

Daniels looks way to thin and can't imagine him absorbing a similar amount of hits as RGIII.

Which was unfortunately compounded by the issue of Robert not being any good as an NFL passer and having no value outside of read option. I really don’t blame Shanny. The options were to keep running read option, have a chance of winning and hope that Robert might eventually figure out that stepping out of bounds or getting down is a good thing if you keep telling him over and over and over and over again or we pretend like he can play in a traditional style and have no chance of winning and he is also getting his ass destroyed in the pocket because he looks like one of those big inflatable guys outside the car dealerships, flailing around with no idea how to protect himself so what’s even the point.

    Yes.

Curiously enough the Ngata injury was a clear example of RGIII staying inbounds for no particular reason instead of just stepping outside the field.

Bad luck caught up to him and to us since we're searching for our franchise QB

(we never really believed in Cousins)

    Exactly How I feel.

Remembering in the 1st year how RG3 and our zone read offense was the talk of the NFL... then Ravens and Haloti Ngata came along and basically broke RG3 in half... and then everything fell apart...

I prefer a pocket QB that can run, not a running RB that can throw.

More like Shanny rode the horse too hard.

Those options-reads were going to fail sooner or later. And RGIII never learned how to slide, which made things much worse.

Is it just me or are we going for the oldest aged roster in 2024 or maybe some cheep name recognition signings scheme to sell tickets. All these guys we have signed seem to have already reached their ceiling.

    It's a considerable culture change.

You need new guys to develop new values and a new winning culture.

So between the guys we just signed (and I'm the first to admit I hadn't even heard about half of them) and the upcoming draft the FO expects the fanbase to hear the message loud and clear.

    I reallllyyyy hope they succeed.

Now about those uniforms and team name...

    Kankles. Oh ****.

No its real. Any muscles you see are on that frame. It is concerning for sure.

Chicken aint gonna cut it. They need a 20 foot table of ice cream man.

I'm getting really bad RGIII vibes, which at least had more frame than this guy.

He was an impressive athlete but we all know how that turned out once he entered the NFL.

    --

Can someone plz post some kind of table and compare our FA acquisitions vs. the guys who left?

Imma be honest here and say I know less than 1% of these guys. To me, they a bunch of whodats.

I agree with this.  I actually would like to keep Howell as he's a really cheap young QB who can play in the league.  But fans here are overvalued his worth. A 3rd or 4th won't happen IMO.

Howell is more than likely gone.

With the incumbent rookie QB and Mariotta he's now the odd man out.

Besides, lots of politics going around here.

Howell was hand-picked by RR and the new FO has demonstrated they want practically nothing to do with the old regime.

I'd take a 5th rounder for him and call it a day.

The Wagner signing caught me off-guard, he's one hell of a placeholder. I liked Crowder last year, his legs looked fresh and still has good quickness.

I think both will be leaders for a team starting from scratch.

Crowder has been here a loooong while during different stints with the team.

He's seen HCs come and go. He's very respected in the offense and special teams.

Wagner will be our new London Fletcher. Long-toothed veteran that naturally enters a leadership role.

As to productivity I don't expect much at all. They are here to establish order.

According to the Rumor Mill, they're going after Kirk Cousins. I don't know if thats the right move to make but talk of that is heating up.

    I'm hearing the same thing.

KC would be landing in a spot where fans actually want him to play. Say what you will but the guy produced when he was here.

Granted he had very good WRs in that time period, but I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt if only for T-Mac.
