Most of the clips in this vid are from the "behind the QB" perspective. I have not seen this angle on a lot of these plays.

    Hits a lil' different.

That was an awesome video. Thanks. That should be a standard every throw of the game replay angle. Also, that deep ball touch. Crazy. I think I want Maye, but if we take Daniels, I'd also be very excited.

I want that highlight video, from the same angle, for Maye and Williams.

I don't know if this has been posted yet, but...

    FWIW.

Also, I’d be excited to have Daniels. A bit more worried though. Short term and long term.

Something that I haven’t seen talked about a lot is, what happens if both are great. How long do you get peak Jayden Daniels? His game is so tied to his athleticism, and he’s already an older prospect. Drake Maye could be peak Drake Maye for 12 years easy. Is Jayden going to be fading in 7 years because his athleticism is waning at age 30? Even if he never does get that massive injury?

Someone will emerge to play LT.  And if it doesn't happen this year, that's OK.  We don't need a dominant player there either.  The truth is that the shotgun spread passing game killed the premium value of the OT position, and many of the best lines in the NFL are running low drafted developmental types at LT, who aren't special players.  Look at what Philly, Chicago, Kansas City, and Green Bay all have at LT.  We can be OK if we have to go this route too.  If we have to draft a Kingsley Suamataia or Patrick Paul or Blake Fisher or Kiran Amegadjie in the second or third round, then that is a good outcome.

I also don't want to reach. But, moving up into a range where OT is BPA is a different thing. I think protection is critical for a rookie QB.

Also, look how athletic this OT is.  Tylan Grable, UCF. 6'6", 306 pounds, arms 33 & 5/8", hands 10 & 1/8, 4.95 40, 1.69 10yd, 36.5" vert, 9'9" broad jump. That is ridiculous. Guard candidate? Any idea where he is projected?

Thinks the same thing we do. That we are moving back up into the 1st for a tackle.

Also, there has been a lot of talk of us moving into the 20's with a 2nd and a 3rd. I'm not a fan. I think the tackles in the 20's are going to be swing and miss guys like Guyton, who both needs development and carries bust risk. I'd rather have top talents at other positions. If we want an OT that can start and protect a rookie in Rd 1, I think the sweet spot is around 15, and our 2 seconds could get us there. We need to get ahead of Cincinnati and  Pittsburg. It would be even better to get ahead of NO at 14.

Also, I keep seeing Brock Bowers dropping in mocks...

That’s a lot of money for half a season or so

He missed 3 games last year. I think we should have paid him. He’s going to be better than whatever rookie we draft in year one and the 1st year of QB development is critical.

  6. I wonder if teams are just waiting for financial expectations to come down for Tyron Smith, or if his medicals are worse than we thought and there will be a longer delay before he signs, or maybe even does not.

I think at this point, we really should sign T Smith. Even if he misses 5 games, that gives us a much better chance to protect and develop our rookie QB while we develop an OT.

  7. One thing I wouldn’t expect based on the number of 2nd and 3rd round pics, is a lot of movement down in the draft to accumulate pics in round 4-7. The general consensus seems to be that there is a drop off in this draft after around pick 100.

If we trade up for an OT, I’d be happy to see us move into the tense and get Fuaga, if he’s available. I think he’s a 10 year plug and play RT. We may not be able to fix everything in one draft.
Sign Tyron Smith and draft Fuaga and we could draft our long term LT in the first next year.

Where is Xavier Legette’s natural spot? Is he an X?

Wonder if because of the hands among reasons, Fashanu drops to the late teens-early 20s?

At least judging by mocks, Alt has stayed solid in the top 10 and Fashanu has fallen.  Bringing it up because I wonder if he's a trade up possibility?  He's from the area, high character guy, good tools, a bit of a work in progress in the run game.

I agree that it looks, right now, that a trade up for a tackle could be a smart move. Fashanu would be a good get for LT. I would really, really like Fuaga.

What are your thoughts on Mims? He seems more likely to fall into reach than the other two. I know he doesn't have a lot of starts, and I've seen people talk about his injury history, but the only thing I could find in his injury history is a high ankle sprain that required a tight rope surgery.

I wonder if the Jets trading for Moses makes them less likely to grab a tackle at the 10th pick.

I feel like there should be a rule that once a QB wins 2 SBs they cannot ever restructure a contract to help the cap.

Let someone else win you jerk.

My assumption would be a long term deal for Snead

Wagner is no Scoota Harris but a decent consolation prize

I really think Wagner could be great here. He is playing as well as he ever has even at 33 and could step right in and stabilize the position for a couple of years. He could easily be our next London Fletcher.

Morgan is a definite early second rounder.  Beebe is probably a third rounder.  He's got zero position and scheme versatility in the NFL, and that'll drop him on boards.  He can find a home as a drive blocking guard, but that's it.  There is zero chance he could play outside at tackle like he did in college, and he's never snapped before.  And zone heavy teams will probably pass him over.  Which does beg the question about what kind of run scheme we are going to install.

Beebe's arms are SHORT. How do you see him doing in pass pro in the NFL at guard?

I think we know they will all go where they are selected. I think the point is that whether they are the 1st pick or 3rd is mattering less and less because more people are realizing its all about the situation you are drafted to that largely determines your success.

And he said it to Simms and Florio when they asked him about people talking about him possibly going #1

It's pretty easy to say something like that when you just aren't going to go number one. Turns out that I, myself, also don't care about going first overall.

I like Daniels. Love his running. Love his release. I think this combine wasn't a good look for him. At least show up and be measured and stay. He's not Caleb or Marvin, the unquestioned top pick at his position.

  13. "4) Reiman's star turn. Illinois TE Tip Reiman has made the most of his NFL Scouting Combine experience.

The unheralded blocking tight end earned a little internet notoriety this week with his "birds aren't real" take during media access, asking rhetorically: "Have you ever seen a baby pigeon?" and "How do we know that power lines aren't pigeon recharging stations?"

Oh, my ****ing god. There is one of them there that doesn't believe in space and one that doesn't believe birds are real? BIRDS? And they say this stuff out loud. For other people to hear. What is up with the world these days?

Also, Johnny Wilson had a pretty good combine. He's 6'6" and 231 with 35" arms, ran a 4.52 40, had a 37" vertical and 10'8" broad jump. That is pretty intriguing.

Also, Keon Coleman is going to fall with that 4.61. He also becomes intriguing to me in the later rounds.

  14. Daniels leaving the combine for, “something personal”? What could possibly be more important than this. If we don’t find out about a death in the family, this is an awful look and would absolutely affect my willingness to draft him. At least Caleb showed up and stayed.

And regarding the not weighing in, it doesn’t change a lot for me. He’s skinny. He doesn’t have one of those frames to add much good weight. We know his build. I think for me this is more of. STFU moment for everyone talking about him rapidly putting on weight and it not being an issue in the NFL.
