It would have been nice to pull off the shocker, we had our chances but there is new hope with Wentz and we'll quickly see how well he can do against pressure as the next two games are against two of the top 5 pass rushers in the NFL.

Gotta win the next 2 or we're mostly likely done.

If we win next week and the Seahawks and Lions lose we will clinched.

Really don't let the kid Purdy fool you as he has been playing lights out football for a rookie and last one taken in the draft.

I watched the Thursday night game when they played the Seahawks. I think he started 10-10 but their was some throws that made him look like the last pick in the draft. The Seahawks safety literally dropped a int in his chest and eventually the 49ers scored on that drive. I think we can expose him but we need to shut McCaffrey down.

  3. We need the Lions to lose to give us some breathing room and I'm assuming the Chiefs will take care of the Seahawks. I think we can beat the 49ers. It won't be pretty but I think our defense can cause some fumbles or interceptions against Purdy. Same thing with us though the 49ers defense is straight up nasty and Heinieke can't turn the ball over. I believe we will beat the Browns and Cowboys cause I'm assuming the Cowboys will be resting their starters or play a quarter. At the end of the day I think we get the 7th seed and play the Vikings.

We go 2-2 with wins v Giants and Brown's, we finish 9-7-1, =6th seed.

Detroit finish 3-1 and finish 9-8 =7th seed.

    Just my opinion.

I agree of what you said in a way , but if we beat the Giants the Cowboys game should be a win cause they will be playing their second string players. They would already locked in their seed.

Must admit, I thought Heineke would do a bit more in terms of providing rhythm and short 3rd down conversions, but still believe he’s providing average returns in area of establishing momentum through contributing to an offense that gets 1st downs and scores in quarters consistently.

Wild, so many underestimate the value of dominating in the trenches—it’s the ultimate talent neutralizer!

It will be a brawl with Niners, but Washington has the big uglies to compete. Cosmi and Turner returning and remaining healthy will be key for the run game.

Complete homer, but logic still remains, Washington is one of the more physical teams in the NFL and matches up well with Niners. Will be huge to have Cosmi and Turner and rest of Oline ready to go.

Niners play in a soft/finesse division and their entire schedule has been a lot of finesse teams. They got punched in the mouth earlier in season by Falcons. Washington will attempt to punch them in the mouth, let’s see how they respond.

Heineke has established a higher floor and that has more vlaue to a team than an inconsistent ceiling.

Washington has scored in 23 out of 28 quarters and averages nearly 12 points (11.8) in the first half with Heineke. Washington averages 21 first downs with Heineke which is good for top 10 in NFL during this time. Heineke during his time has passed for 73 first downs (10.4 per game) and Washington has rushed for 64 first downs (9.14 per game).

When all put together it’s a competent offense that helps the defense a great deal as well.

Red zone, Red zone, and more Red zone is the key for the offense to take the next step. Heineke seems to be doing some soul searching in how to manage this area of the field. He’s become ultra conservative in this area of the field, but he should be able to flourish in this area due to so much of success in red zone coming down to improv. He hasn’t really had to force the issue, because game flow hasn’t required it, so I get him being more conservative during this recent run.

You’re sleeping on Washington, your very own team. Washington has ability to punch th in the mouth and compete at the line of scrimmage. The big uglies combined with a clear identity can take down a team like Niners.

I agree,  I'm just thinking worst case scenario.

I still don’t know if 1 lemon where we lose is enough to go to Wentz.  Perhaps 1.5, and we’d see Wentz after halftime against the Niners.

With Heinicke, the majority of his games are lemons of his own making, and then he comes alive to dig his way out.  The one thing he really hasn’t done though is turn it over a ton - which probably has more to do with limited chances to do so (and bad corners dropping gimmes and refs taking dudes out😭). The 49ers are a team though that capitalizes on the bad throws, or strip sacks hanging in the pocket.

Obviously, I don’t want to spend Xmas Eve salty, so hopefully he proves me wrong.  Or the defense gives Purdy hell and we somehow pull off a W in an ugly slopfest.

I watched the 49ers game last night. As a Heinicke supporter, I believe he's going to throw like three picks against that defense. The 49ers defense is just a different animal. I hope he proves me wrong but Idk.

That'd make sense if we ran design QB run plays but we don't.

The run game got better because the OL restabilized and we got Robinson back into the lineup with his legs back under him after the shooting.

Heinicke's presence has no real effect on the effectiveness of the run game.

I disagree but it's all good. With Wentz he has no threat of running or has mobility at all. If Wentz is in shotgun which our offense is in the majority of the time the running game comes predictable. Defenses bring more pressure to stop the run and even when we play action or RPO in shotgun it gets more predictable. Heinicke opens up the running game with his mobility even though he doesn't run like last year the threat is there and defenses still try to prepare for it.

I guess you missed the last several pages (and other pages in the thread) of discussion about why TH is NOT running?  kind of runs all over argument.

    🤣😂🤣😂

I believe he will start scrambling and running if he has to now since the playoff chances are right in front of them.

Who exactly is afraid to admit that $28M and the picks would be the better option?  I don’t think anyone is clamoring for Wentz to right some wrong.

I don’t think anyone expected Turner to adopt this run-heavy offense with consistent first read gimmes, or that the defense would be playing as well as it has.  Bottom line, nobody would expect this team to be winning ball games with stat lines like Heinicke puts up week to week.  He doesn’t look improved as a player, I’d argue he actually looks worse.  Add to that we’ve been unusually fortunate this season.

If Heinicke wasn’t playing pedestrian ball, nobody would be speculating about Wentz.  I’ve yet to even see anyone all that confident that Wentz is the answer.  This is just what happens when fans watch bad QB play, whether the team is winning or losing - naturally folks would like to see someone else.

If you start Wentz the running game will be worse. It wasn't working when he was in there because Wentz has no threat of running he is slow like dial up connection. Heinicke has mobility and puts a bigger threat in the running game with Scott Turners offense.

  9. We were 2-4 with Wentz. With Heinieke we are 5-1-1. Look at our offense with Wentz the first six weeks. First two games we scored points and I believe he threw two picks against Jacksonville. The second game of playing the Lions of what I can remember our offense caught on late but got shut out early and couldn't do anything. Then look at the Eagles game eight points and got sacked like nine times . The Dallas game 10 points. Titans game seventeen points, but threw a pick to win it at the end. The Bears game twelve points. Then he gets hurt and Heinieke starts and then all of a sudden you see a spark in this team. We go on a winning streak and are in playoff contention. We beat the Eagles at the Eagles on MNF for goodness sake. If Wentz started that game we darn know we won't win that game. Heinieke might have less arm strength than Wentz and we all know that, but Heinieke knows this system in and out and has great chemistry with his WRS's. That's why he has given up less sacks. If you want Wentz in fine, but I don't see him playing again unless Heinieke gets hurt. If Wentz has to come in Ill be rooting for him, but get ready for flashbacks when he was overthrowing five yard passes and ten yard passes and taking sacks. We all know if Wentz had to start every game this year we wouldn't even come close to playoff contention.

I literally can't get myself to commit to which team I want to win lol...everytime either the Giants or Cowboys takes the lead I find myself going "Yes!...or...hmm...maybe not."

Imo we need the Cowboys to win. The Giants still play us twice and have a harder schedule ahead than Dallas. If we take care of business Sunday and against the Giants next week and after the bye too I think we will be ok. Especially the last Cowboys game they will rest their starters if they already secured a spot.
