A healthy Baker Mayfield led the CLEVELAND BROWNS to a playoff win. Think about that for a second. They should be erecting statues of him but they forced him to play on a hurt shoulder and then replaced him by overpaying big time for a sexual predator.

There is no comp between him and Heinicke. They are on different planets as QBs.

They dont even put their pants on the same way.  Heinickie cant even throw a football more the 30 yards.  If you want proof just turn on the tape from last season.

I wonder why JDR and RR were so hesitant to change up our failed defense last year. Watching other games (and defenses vs our offense) it is clear there was no trickery no deception attempted no unpredictability... almost an arrogant approach thinking on paper we can dominate any offense playing what was a vanilla scheme for 2022. No I dont care that PFF shows we blitzed blah blah % of the time. Any blitzing we did was predictable delayed and ineffective. It was easy to play our D until mid to late in the year when clear adjustments were made but the damage was done and IMO JDR only kept his job because he is best buds with RR.  If either of those 2 were responsible for reaching on Jamin that should be enough to make them voluntarily consider a career change.

I completely agree.  I think it was pretty obvious early in the season that Landon Collins was a main issue in the secondary.  There was no cohesion with that unit whatsoever. Almost like a light bulb though, as soon as Curl took over they just started getting better and better, Then the D-line had issues with injuries and the second string ends came in.  All of the sudden we had gap discipline and while the pressure wasn't there all the time, teams knew they couldn't run on us as effectively.  It was night and day for me.  I do hope they bring Landon back as a LB.  I think he really excelled there and it would be exciting to see him add a few lbs and really attack the LOS.

I think a lot of it had to do with communication on the back end as well and of course playing Landon out of position. The entire secondary improved with landons switch. I know we like to beat up on Mccain but Mccain actually played fairly well down the stretch next to Curl vs being next to Landon

I agree about McCain however am I the only one that think he is just super small?  The guy just looks so tiny our there.

If things don't improve or they want to move on from WJIII they have an out after this season:

William Jackson Contract Breakdowns, Salary Cap Figures, Salaries, Bonuses | Spotrac

    POTENTIAL OUT: 2023, 2 YR, $27,468,750; $9,000,000 DEAD CAP

Im not sure what PFF said about WJ3 but it appeared he played better as the season went on.  Maybe he keeps that trend going and has a really solid year this year.

I buy that narrative because I was at training camp and granted Terry isn't easy to cover one on one but the local media was jazzed to see that play out in camp as i did.  Terry beyond just owned Jackson, it was an absolute joke watching Jackson trying to keep pace with Terry, it wasn't even close.   It was comical.

I do remember everyone saying that we shouldn't worry about WJ3 getting smoked all off season.  Maybe his confidence was shot getting torched by Terry all summer.  I do hope that St. Juste gets it together but I would love to see Bradberry in the Burgundy and Black!

He’s not a bellcow or early down banger, his feet were falling apart underneath him with all those carries at a weight he’d never played at before. It’s not just a commentary on the Robinson draft pick imo—although he will be a benefit to us and himself a beneficiary of this change—more so just an acknowledgement of how Gibson should be best and most effectively used. Net positive imo.

Im fine with changing his usage Im 100% on board with keeping him fresh.  I just think that if he is lighter he may not be able to absorb contact as well so that could cause another issue.  I do wish they used him more in the passing game.  I thought we would have seen more of that by now.  Maybe this is the year they use him to full potential im just not so sure that dropping 10 lbs was necessary.  He has such a smooth stride so maybe we will be a bit faster.

Just read the most recent Standig article in the Athletic and there was a note I found very interesting at the bottom. According to Standig Gibson has lost 10 pounds this offseason as part of his offseason training. Maybe im reading too much into it but this screams to me they want Gibson in more of a change of pace type role than an every down bruiser.

Wow.... I hope that helps him out on the field but idk abut that....

SD’s quick, short choppy stepping thru the first line of defense, then bouncin outside and showin just how fast the big guy could move.
BTW…he also beat out a highly touted runner most thought would win the starting job…skip hicks

i find the comp of Robinson to Davis to be eerily close.  Yay for us if that’s the case

Think he can beat out Gibson?

  7. This guy has size, vision, quick feet and good hands.   This is a dangerous combo for a back.  He is not just a power back.

One of my fav redskins was Stephen Davis. I’d love to see this young man develop into that

man i loved watching him run.  I lok for highlights of him on youtube but can never find any.  He was the perfect balance of speed and power.  Soo quick between the tackles and laid the wood on contact.

Ya'll are so dramatic about Wentz, it's almost as if you've never seen him play.  Like you never saw him wipe the floor with our own team.  As if he didn't have a 4 to 1 TD to pick ratio last year on a team with no pass-catching weapons.

I'd almost bet that if it wasn't for Irsay's character assassination attempt, and there was more hype around 'who's going to get Carson Wentz' a lot of folks would be much happier about it.  But because it was sold that he's this terrible dude, that Indy would have to cut, because nobody could possibly want him - he's garbage.

I agree, I loved it when the Eagles traded Wentz.  I was never a big fan of his but I remember him killing us a few times with big plays.  It would be nice if he can do that to other teams in the NFCE this year.

I don't think the team had any real questions on Settle. He had been here for four years already. The team knew what it had. An additional 50 snaps wasn't going to change that.

I have a feeling he will do very well with more time.  Letting him go might be a mistake, especially if Payne or Allen get hurt.

I kind of wonder if they'll bring back Danny Johnson to play nickel again. I thought he did a pretty good job there, at least tackling wise. I recall St. Juste not playing much later in the year, but I'm not clear on if they just wanted to keep Fuller outside or if he was still recovering from a concussion.

The end of the season was such a mess with covid that it's hard to say.

I think BSJ was hurt for most of the end of the season.  We also had Torry Mctyer shine in camp as well.  I wonder if they bring him in again.  Im sure he will be recovered from the ACL.

Keep off the sniff NS 😉

Just look at the numbers, Cole has just about as many tackles in 1 less year.  Same INTs and more sacks.  Perhaps you been sniffing some cowpuke juice watching to much espn.  Hard pass for me on Vander Esch.  However, Wagner?? Yes please. We dont need another Cole Holcomb.

  12. It HAS to be Wagner, thats the only way I see this Defense truly ascending to the next level.  Ron and Jack both covet the MLB position, they see it as the field general.  If they are not going HARD for Wagner then I would be shocked.  I keep saying this but Its the only way I see us truly getting better out of all of this.
